What a specialist knows about YOU

With the algorithms, just a few is all that's needed nowadays.

What a specialist knows about YOU

Very correct & very well said! The same applies from the opening bell if let's say you open a trade for even just 1k shares on a low liquidity stock, in situationis where your counterparty is a MM or specialist, you can almost expect the stock price to "artificially" turn against you for a...

What a specialist knows about YOU

So anytime a retail trader starts getting elated about having learned a few ropes of the game & shares with others, he's written off as a loser? Some of you sound quite arrogant--just like the specialist firms that you are probably working for.

What a specialist knows about YOU

With each posting, you are becoming more & more concerned. It's all right; just close your eyes, & breathe slowly & deaply.

What a specialist knows about YOU

Funny, but definitely leads a person to the wrong conclusions!! A specialist is supposed to make (repeat after me) "a fair & orderly market", and that does not happen. Point 2: at least Scalper, kickboxer, myself, & a couple others on this thread have a good explanation why 90% of daytraders...

What a specialist knows about YOU

So you last 3 posts want traders to live in the illusion that the specialist doesn't care about his retail order? Would you also deny that the specialist likes to take out stop losses--albeit it's a known fact?? Well, at least it's quite clear to me there is not much difference between if they...

What a specialist knows about YOU

My impression is that part of the artificial intelligence is identifying the enemy & squeezing him out. E.g. while usually if a big bid is placed it can have an impact on the stock, but if the day trader already took up a position & is being squeezed puts in another big bid, it won't help him.

What a specialist knows about YOU

...unless you are placing a big enough trade to give reason for the specialist to do a reversal--noting he is usually your counterparty. EDIT: By the way, "big enough trade" momentarily can be pretty small (till the stocks course continues)

What a specialist knows about YOU

When you say "trained", do you mean through pattern recognition (i.e. of the trading activity) it makes educated guesses, or through gathering the blantant facts?

What a specialist knows about YOU

That's for the no-brainers; however, I'm sure they go on manual override as well, and could contact brokers quite easily (if that would be part of their procedure).

What a specialist knows about YOU

Is it commonplace for specialists to have "their connections" with individual brokerages (or perhaps with individual employees(s)), who may help them identify customers in tiight positions?

What a specialist knows about YOU

To be a successful trader you must know the rules of the game. You must also know if information about you is "leaking" to your likely counterparty (i.e. the specialist). I know the specialist is able to identify YOU as a retail trader and knows which broker you are trading with, and can...

NASDAQ Closing Cross & high after hour volume...

Can anyone explain what this is all about in layman's terms? Is this merely a way for the shorts to reshuffle their positions between accounts to cover outstanding short positions (between accounts) & to prepare them for the next phase of onslaughts? This is what I found, but I don't...

    Specialiasts' limitations--if any?

Is it true that a specialist could do naked shorting without restriction for a certain limited period of time (3 days?? 14 days??)? Are they also able to get around the above restriction by selling from one account to the other, & then they can start again? If yes to the both above, what...
