And as far as China goes the reason they can go on a massive economic expansion and have real inflation not a major prob is they had a massive under allocation of labor and resources that was put into play with the resulting productivity gains reducing the inflationary impact.

There is a body of opinion though that says that higher rates proportionally exert more downward pressure on companies and therefore the stock markt than the upward momentum gained from a strong economy. Though i could be wrong.
