    When not to trade?

I'm not an opportunist. I don't look for extraordinary price action in the moment. If your setup fits this...great! I'm a grinder.

    When not to trade?

My advice to ET'ers is that Scat is right and he is wrong. Subjective filters are bad during trading in the moment. Predetermined TECHNICAL FILTERS can be the best thing you've ever done for your bottom line! These kind of "filters" have been back tested through data or valuable experience! Is...

    When not to trade?

Scat...it sounds like we both trade for a living and for a long time (1994 for me). You must realize that saying such "absolutes" for every single trader out there has to be questionable. There is not one way to trade successfully...your're starting to sound like Buy1Sell2. I often go weeks...

    When not to trade?

I still review these "days" and they still continue to be net losers for my style. Gosh...it's only a couple of days off a month.

    When not to trade?

I know a good reason...the setup has lost it's "probability to profit" because "everyone" (except the little guys) is WAITING for news to come out.

    When not to trade?

If your're a "low win rate" trader with good R:R, then taking every trade "mechanically" is probably what you have to do. Your're playing the "math" of profits over time. For me it's different...filters have become a specialty...something I've learned since 1994.;)

    When not to trade?

That's why I don't lose BIG...I don't trade certain days! Only had to experience this a couple of times to know better.

    When not to trade?

I trade with a high win rate. My trades succeed most of the time, therefore it's easy to know when "not to trade", because if they start losing all of a sudden...something is WRONG! Either I've missed a significant market condition change or those days of institutional "adjustments" are...

    When not to trade?

Maybe your right with some traders, but I've learned over the years that I lose BIG when it comes to certain "days". These "days" have a different price action...in fact at times I wouldn't even call it price action. Now, all the rest of the trading days I'm completely OBJECTIVE.

    When not to trade?

Depends on the traders style. I trade high probability setups with negative R:R at times...certain days will tear my setups to shreds! I need institutional traders to NOT be on the sidelines "waiting" or making drastic changes to their ordinary activity.

    When not to trade?

If I have doubts about an upcoming baby, I pull out.:wtf:

    When not to trade?

Non-trading days: Day before FED announcement, day of FED announcement, option expiration, some holidays.

    What a small range

August is typically lowest volume month of the year.

    The Concept of Trading Emotions

Did you just come up with your own solution...don't trade 2nd half of the day? Why do you have to "keep doing trades"? If you must trade during "non eventful" hours, what about fading type setups (mean reverting)?;)

Traditiona IRA / Roth IRA Straddle

Any profits created in the ROTH should be tax free...unless options are different. That's probably your question, but I don't know anyone who does this in a Roth. I Googled the same question and had a hard time getting an answer. Sorry.

    Liquidity Question (Buyers/Sellers)

If the buyer placed an offer 10 ticks above and the seller 10 ticks below market, wouldn't that cause a transaction immediately...so no spread? I thought a spread was the reverse...buyer 10 ticks below and seller 10 ticks above?

    Liquidity Question (Buyers/Sellers)

For the housing market...is the question no buyers and no sellers or is the question there is no buying or selling (no transactions)? Maybe no one wants to sell in the neighborhood, but buyers are knocking on doors, home owners are starting to change their minds about selling at a higher...

    Liquidity Question (Buyers/Sellers)

If the buyers are still enthusiastic about buying more (putting in constant orders), price will continue to rise until sellers finally come back into the market because they can't resist selling at even higher prices. If the buyers had stopped putting in more orders at the same time all sellers...

Investors tired of the central banks money printing scheme

I don't know if you meant to say it or not, but saying we would be lucky to be above minus 3% or 4% without all the printed money, basically means the "printed money" has worked (giving us +2%). But, I know what you mean...all this worthless paper is going to lead to a disaster and I'm tired of...

Silver Production and Its Use in Solar Panels

Good article. I read something recently about gold being held down in price artificially to give China "time" to accumulate more reserves. Apparently, this is in the U.S. best interest...as well as the rest of the world.
