On Reddit a post stated IB will no longer charge the $10.00 inactivity fee

Is the better fill quality somehow quantifiable? How much it matters also depends on the trading volume. I'm a big IB fan, but there are 2 things that for more passive investment (not trading) accounts can cost by magnitudes more than commissions or fill quality: 1. They don't apply tax treaties...

    Selling SPX box for financing

Sorry I'm not sure about points, as I only sell box spreads, which I think basically trade as a whole on interest rates and not on points, and as such I think the point spread depends on the strike prices i.e. the size of the box. My understanding is that box spreads trade at tighter spreads...

    Selling SPX box for financing

Exactly! You exactly re-phrased my concern and my question. If I could view the order book, I think that problem would be largely eliminated, as not viewing the order book puts me at a significant informational disadvantage to the market makers. I believe there is no logical reason why in this...

    Selling SPX box for financing

I'm not understanding anything, not any one half sentence, of what you are saying in this or your previous comment. If you are questioning the motive, please rest assured that I and many others desire to leverage their portfolio at low rates via box spreads. Likewise, many counterparties also...

    Selling SPX box for financing

I respectfully disagree. Let's make an example. For simplicity, let's use implied interest rates instead of price quotations. I don't know what the interest rate spread is, but assume it's 0.6%, i.e. all sell orders of a box higher than 0.5% implied interest, and all buy orders at implied...

    Selling SPX box for financing

Thank you FSU. I understand I can reverse-engineer boxes from the times and sales. But I want to trade against resting box limit orders. I think we agree that I would need to see the COB for that, right? I believe that there is a huge interest rate spread between the bid and ask of customer SPX...

    Selling SPX box for financing

Thanks. But there must be an underlying data feed with an associated cost that CBOE sells the data feed for, independent of the software that displays it, just like for all the other real time data that exchanges offer, or not? Since the COB for exchange-traded combination orders is separate...

    Selling SPX box for financing

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but can someone please educate me how to see the COB (complex order book) of SPX options? I heard that they ceased to display it on their web site some time ago, but is there any other way to view the COB, paid or not? Thanks in advance!

Account Financing via short SPX box - Expiry

What I do is I create a new box on the same day that the old box expires. The SPX options settle to cash on the day after the settlement price is determined (i.e. the day after the "expiry date"). Likewise, the trades of the new options settle T+1 too. As a result, I can refinance my "loan"...

    IB Set liquidate last

Ok so the quickest way that I found is this: 1. Open Strategy Builder; 2. with the mouse, move each leg from the Portfolio window to the "Trading" section of the Strategy Builder; 3. Click "Add to quote panel" in Strategy Builder, and prompted to add all legs, click "yes"; 4. In the quote panel...

    IB Set liquidate last

I just tried and it works, thanks! But this is one of the biggest insanities that I've seen so far. I have to manually replicate each leg as a separate line item, then set Liquidate Last on it, then the Liquidate Last symbol mysteriously appears on the leg under the combo, not the line that I...

    IB Set liquidate last

In my TWS the Liquidate Last is greyed out for both my SPX option box spreads, and for the individual option legs. Is anybody here able to set Liquidate Last on single SPX options, combinations, and/or individual legs of combinations? I only trade combinations so I can't verify for single options.

IB messed up average cost of every position.

Is their tax reporting (tax cost basis) at least correct when they mess up with the cost basis? I never checked, but maybe I should. You can verify (in their "latest" TWS, not in "stable") by right-clicking, "Change Tax Lots"; or by going to Tax Lot Optimizer from Account Management.

Eurodollar, SOFR future packs and bundles at Interactive Brokers

Is it possible that IB does not allow submitting orders of packs and bundles? I can't believe it.

    Mark Price

Thanks, Guru. I'm relatively new to options, but my understanding is that for options, neither the "last" nor the "mid" prices are considered sensical for valuation purposes, as both might be heavily and randomly affected by customer orders. For example, if I place a standing order at the mid...

    Mark Price

I have seen the statement from an IB person that you are referencing quoted in several places on this forum, but I am unable to comprehend the logic of this "but for cash settled indices ... we go off of the last due to the fact that the underlying is not actually tradable" - what does the mark...

    Mark Price

See screenshot attached. I'm looking at the mid and mark prices for the box combos. But the mark prices for the individual legs are also not the mid prices.

    Mark Price

That's what IB also says on their web site, but it is not what they show in TWS as Mark Price for options. Their mark price is different from the mid price (which they also display). Does anybody have more insight into what Mark Price is at IB for options?

IB supported stock exchanges - NO Korean stocks?

@markd01 or others: Did anyone hear any news regarding the progress of IB working on access to South Korean equities?

    Interactive Brokers Index Arbitrage Meter

Thank you for volunteering all that insight, Same Lazy Element, I really appreciate it. One of the must burning questions that I have is, am I understanding it right that the native futures calendar spread order book is hidden? I am with Interactive Brokers, and the bid/ask for calendar spreads...
