    How about a "Newbie" section?

Perhaps, asking Baron to direct all new members to the FAQ when they sign-up would be an idea. I still strongly favor the implementation of sticky threads, perhaps just one per forum for newbies. Anyone want to start a poll to give Baron some data to make the decision? :D

http://www.hoadley.net/options/develtoolsoxlanding.htm Yes, 100 symbol limit though. I believe it's Hyperfeed repackaged somehow. As per link above and other Hoadley docs, specifically Strategy Evaluation Tool. Account -> Profile -> Trading & Website Preferences: Site Access Via...

    Bandwidth, how much is enough?

Do you have access to the manual for your router? I Googled one here. Do you have access to the web-based administration application as per the manual? If so, once you have logged in: - click on the Advanced tab at the top, and then select SNMP from the options on the left. - Make...

LOL. For some reason Yip is on my ignore list, so I'll respond via your post. Who want's to know their risk? I follow a proprietary risk-management approach known as HIS (head-in-sand). HIS files are calculated daily by the exchanges and sent out to subscribers. The data contained...

It might be a bit of a learning curve. The main advantage of Hoadley's stuff IMO is if you were planning to [EDIT: build your own spreadsheets and larger analysis in Excel or leverage some of the other features such as volatility forecasting etc.] If you weren't planning to do that then perhaps...

Thanks for the info. The company though strikes me as one that has a propensity to nickle and dime the customer for add-ons,upgrades, data etc. I mean, $49.00 for just the trial! :D I believe some of the skew modeling features you refer to are only in the pro version which is somewhat more...

Are you still running a user group for OptionVue LOL? Seriously, can you tell me what are the benefits of OptionVue over thinkorswim analytics. The only notable difference I can deduce is the variable volatility model in OptionVue. Ignore scanning capabilities and "trade finders" etc...

    Bandwidth, how much is enough?

Did you read my post? LOL. If you can enable SNMP on your router (or Netflow), the freeware version of Traffic Grapher is all you need. Download. Run install. Add sensor. Point to your Router. Click, click, click. Result = Pretty charts, just like trading. You'll soon be trying to spot...

Excel aficionado's can't go wrong with Hoadley's Tools $67 + optionsXpress data feed for live option quotes. I have found the add-in can confilict with other add-ins though  but you're not likely to encounter that.

    Bandwidth, how much is enough?

That will show bandwidth usage for the PC it is being run but FWIW doesn't tell you the collective bandwidth usage of multiple PCs (is that what the OP meant by several prop software stations?) on the network through a single router.

FWIW, IB are remaining tight-lipped on this matter and simply say a bulletin will be issued when appropriate.

Thanks for that! It would seem to make sense that implementation of STANS (by end of year?) would be co-ordinated with this portfolio margin change but they appear to be separate initiatives. At least, the proposals and the Deloitte article discussed Portfolio margin only in the context of...

Right, using TIMS. Should be interesting. It's all speculation though until it actually arrives.

    Bye-bye reg T

As per earlier posts, I believe there are legal and regulatory hurdles to work out between CFTC and SEC for this type of cross-margining to take place. It is allegedly being looked at though.
