    Best mainstream broker for options?

Thanks, good to know. It was a long standing grumble with some traders I know and seemed like a trivial software fix (don't they all). I don't trade them myself Riskarb will be glad to know; the embedded extra OTM short vertical in the position is not to my liking.

It would be great if IB do introduce CPM but it does seem a little early for that. All they say is: "IB Comments: We believe, that rule based margins will be replaced by portfolio margins by Nov." Either way, it's got to be an improvement.

Yeah, that clunky platform is hard to beat :) I've tried. Even with a baseball bat. Before the Interactive Brokers evangelists takeover (they are even more extreme than ToS cult members) let's not forget a few cons: Unable to log in at weekends and forced auto log out every day. 100 market...

They're calling it a "merger": http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77143 Unfortunately, the e-mail I received from ToS explaining the real deal has been deleted from that thread

You'll profit on the long PUT....but you'll lose on the short same strike PUT (long stock + long CALL)! Long PUT + short PUT = no position/locked position. Load the position into some analysis software and you'll observe an expiration risk profile of a horizontal flat line. The vertical...

Not necessarily less margin under regulation T as the naked PUT will be cash-secured. However, it requires less legs and less commissions versus the covered write. It's also arguably clearer or more transparent where your risk lies. It's interesting that you mention the risk of being blown...

Yeah but thinkorswim has a special options trading platform which contains functionality based on brand new math invented especially for it :D To the OP who is single-handedly responsible for starting at least 40% of all threads in the options forum and who should be an options guru by now...

Sure, let's assume that synthetic equivalents can be substituted for the real thing at any time. At all points on the risk map they are identical. Let's say you did your covered write. Now, when you aren't looking, I sneak into your account and switch your covered write position with a naked...

Yeah, just remember on the trade page the probability of expiring value is derived from market prices for that particular option series in the same way that implied volatility is derived for a given option series e.g. SPX 1300 OCT PUT IV: 14.59% DELTA: -0.09 Probability of expiring ITM...

You may or may not be aware that a covered write is synthetically equivalent to a naked PUT. If you bought stock and wrote CALL at the same time, then you were perhaps better off just writing the OCT 17.50 PUT instead. As for subsequently buying the OCT 17.50 PUT, you have just executed a...

If TELK moves down and you open a bear CALL spread that will result in an iron condor if my understanding of your position is correct. That means you will have legged into the iron condor for less than fair value i.e. if you went into the market to open the iron condor from scratch you will...
