Drudge: Dramatic PPT intervention Thursday prevented meltdown to Dow 8,300

This guy is quite the character: had a rocky start in life shall we say and ended up being named as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Drudge

Who can explain this to me

Fed just pumped money into system using Open Mkt Ops which is a little more reliable: http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080916/fed_credit_crisis.html Link says there's been an overnight spike in lending rate which will slow inter-institution lending...

Who can explain this to me

Actually, money is not flowing through the system like the good ol' days. Banks are reluctant to create it at this point. I haven't checked lately, but from what I've read money supply is slowing a little because of it. That is not the case with other countries however...

    Bear Stearns and Leverage

I don't know much about institutional trading and was shocked to hear that both LCTM, intimately tied to Bear Stearns, and the initial two Bear Stearns' hedge funds in the subprime crisis that went down in flames had only 3% in actual assets. Is that really legal? Doesn't that seem like...

Ford and the 65 mgp Car

Ford and the 65 mgp Car

The link was acting up so here's the article: "If ever there was a car made for the times, this would seem to be it: a sporty subcompact that seats five, offers a navigation system, and gets a whopping 65 miles to the gallon. Oh yes, and the car is made by Ford Motor (F), known widely for...

Ford and the 65 mgp Car

I cannot believe the incompetence of our policy makers. Ford has made a 65 mgp car and it is only going to sell it in Europe! Why??? Because, in their infinite wisdom, our Congress has taxed the heck out of diesel making it unviable here. So, while Europe has switched over half their car...

    Cost Efficient Solar

Interesting link! I knew the Chinese were heavily into solar but didn't realize the extent of it. I've got to take my hat off to the communists - they do a MUCH more intelligent job of governing in general than the almost complete incompetence we see in Washington. The is potentially...

Well, I bet it's drop dead gorgeous. But I'm a desert rat - that just might kill me except for July and August. But tell me more - maybe that will be my summer home. :)

Forget Money - Best Place to Live

I'm hoping in a few years I can start going for a month - in my job I can telecommute - and then stretch it out little by little. Soon enough I hope to be switch to full time swing trading but, of course, it depends on my returns. So, for now, I want to go for awhile and then eventually...

Is anyone here subscribed to Dan Zanger's site?

It's interesting: many of the great investors - Lynch/Graham/Templeton - wrote books to share their knowledge. Buffett essentially does the same thing in his corporate meetings. I believe Neff did as well. Great investors are very often quality people that actually want to help other...

Is anyone here subscribed to Dan Zanger's site?

IBD's methodology is just a starting point. You have to take some of their underlying principles and add additional technical/fundamental expertise in with it. There are many underlying principles that O'Neill gives that are solid imo, but you can't expect anything out of the box. Also...

Forget Money - Best Place to Live

I've read a thousand and one articles about the best places to travel to and live in and retire to and they all seem to concentrate on being a bargain. But, to my way of thinking, if it's a bargain there's probably a reason. So let me ask a different question since I know there's eters from...
