IB Is VERY Slow Cashing Checks...

**************************************************** yeah true, it took about 3 weeks for my check to clear when I first opened the account.. now it's worth the $25 wire fee to transfer funds if necessary. **************************************************** I had the same experience with...

    System suddenly slow

If you find that disconnecting from the net or have any other indication that it's a trojan, ZoneAlarm will detect any outgoing port connections and give you the opportunity to stop it. It can mess with your high speed connection connectivity though, so after you use it and test a few times...

Real Deflation or the Fed is smoking something?

Let's assume for a second that there is a "conspiracy". Here is an article that outlines it: the administration and the Fed want a weak currency in order to bolster our manufacturing sector. Maybe the powers-to-be believe that w/o a vibrant manufacturing sector (arguably weakened severely by...

    Historical Stock Prices

And if you meant splits, I'd be curious if yahoo is really adjusting for splits. I haven't checked lately but it used to be yahoo did not adjust for splits. Amibroker, which is what I use, has a tool option to handle the splits that come in from data sources such as yahoo.

    Early Retirement

Thx for the quotes and advice - I love some of them! (I just noticed that someone had reposted to this.) It is interesting to me how few individuals (apparently) have made it by swing trading alone into early retirement. But I'm not going to let that bother me...

    OT: getting rid of spyware

You might also check in the Documents and Settings\YourUser\Start Menu\Programs. When I had 98, there were some malicious web sites that loaded executables into this folder somehow. And you'll be glad you got rid of ME. I can think of no code more universally hated.

    OT: getting rid of spyware

Two ways to handle that: 1. I've heard good things about adaware. Here's a review: http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/article/0,aid,97429,pg,4,00.asp 2. ZoneAlarm. If a port is opened on your computer, you must give it permission, i.e. it will ask if you want so-and-so app to connect to...

    money equals happiness ???

Here's the real question: "is life really about happiness"? In other words, if a poor guy can make himself happier by making himself rich, what does it matter? Happiness is a peculiarly American idea. Most other cultures are concerned about things like honor and leaving behind a lasting...

    Huge Run Up

Thx - I knew that but I've heard so often "the biggest mistake traders make is not letting their winners ride." But in this case I had.

    Huge Run Up

Crapola! I almost had a heart attach. I bought T 2 days ago at 14.19 and just looked at my IB screen when I got to work and it was at 16.23!! That's 14+% in 2 days. I panicked. My system says to get out so I got out. But was that stupid? From what I've seen big runners usually keep...

    Early Retirement

I do love it - probably a little too much. I find it addictive. I'm one of these kids that loved baseball stats and astronomical charts when I was growing up. Now I find I can play with charts and numbers and make some money at it too. S-W-E-E-T ! !

    Early Retirement

I'll have to read rich dad, po' dad. It keeps coming up. And, yes, when I talked about retiring I meant from my day job. I love trading, so I don't think I'll ever retire from it. But I want to get to a place where I can continue trading part-time and do other things with the rest of my time...

    Scott Peterson and Double Murder

Again, not to mention the fact that he shows up at the mexican border with 10k on his person, a false id and his hair dyed. I would also call that circumstantial evidence. What I don't know if they have is a motive. But this guy was (assuming he was guilty) a monster and probably would have...

    Early Retirement

I've got a full-time non-trading job and do swing/position trading on the side. And so I think my goal is a little different than most: early retirement. From posts I've read on et there are a few of you out there who have achieved this holy grail and I'd like to know how you did it. 1...
