    Staying Long anyone?

I ate it for a -30% loss on an OEX call option day trade position on Friday. Most of last week there was enough "end of day rebound" in the market to give me some profitability on long positions, but not on Friday. Today the OEX didn't hit its entry trigger for a long position...

    For all the Dip Buyers?

A significant buyable dip is when the benchmark SPX retraces to its 40 day moving average. I consider that a full retracement dip with extra large profit potential. Another major dip I watch for is the OEX retracing to the its 40 day moving average. This has almost happened today...

    World Record day

"Nice day traderich, and wishing you many more like that." I find it incredibly sad that a guy can't share his day with his fellow trader's at E.T. without being criticized.

    Staying Long anyone?

Bought OEX calls late day at pivot S1, market saviors pulled it back up near the pivot just before the close. Nice little profit, thank you market saviors.

Tough to make money in 2007?

If I had to trade just stocks, I couldn't survive. Its much easier to learn the characteristics of an index and catch either intraday moves, or modest 1 to 3 day moves.

Technicals indicators don't work for day trading?

Good old fashion pivot points. They have been around since the beginning of time. Its basically what a high percentage of the floor traders are looking at and that's why they work.

    Staying Long anyone?

Bought calls at OEX pivot S1 today. It didn't rise to my target goal of R1, but the market saviors at least took it back up to the pivot point by the end of the day. Small 4% profit today. Yesterday's call trade was much better. Volatility is drying up.

    Staying Long anyone?

I use a bullish bias with a pivot point system on the OEX index. Even today, with the indexes short term overbought at the upper bollinder bands, S1 provided a good call entry and R1 provided a good exit. So the answer is yes, I am still trading this short term overbought market...

Why do folks reveal Profitable Strategies, are they NUTS?

I have given novice traders complete stand alone trading systems that have 1 to 1 risk to reward ratio's and time proven 70% win/loss records. Every single time that I have done this for someone, I have found that newbies lack the discipline and intestinal fortitude to follow through...

Trading US Index futures with NO STOP!

This has normally been true in the last 6 months, but lately after the SPX makes a new high, we have been retracing back to the 20dma/40dma support area. This means if you keep buying into the new highs, you might be holding awhile waiting for a recovery from the retracement. This is OK if...

    throwing in the fkin towel!!!

Slick, "That line about averaging down is one of the best market proverbs I have ever read. I read it 20 minutes ago and I am having difficulty typing this because I am still laughing so hard! You definitely have a future in comedy writing." P.S. Suggestion: Write a book called "Stock...

Come On And Load Up We Are Getting These Stocks A Lot Cheaper Today!!!

I basically agree with what your saying, but I was surprised that nobody took the challenge and listed there bullish trades during the recent period of time (Jan 16 thru Jan 23) when the NDX declined -4%. Jeff

Come On And Load Up We Are Getting These Stocks A Lot Cheaper Today!!!

I am not a bearish trader, in fact my trading system is bullishly biased, but lets be honest about something right now: "If you look at the last 6 daily candlesticks of the NDX, you will notice that the NDX has 5 out 6 negative candles and has shed 74.91 points (-4%) in the last 6 trading...

    Why do you trade options?

Ursa, I have never really considered trading futures. My trading system has 1 to 3 day hold times per signal, which is ideal for front month options. I can't imagine anyone holding futures contracts for 2 or 3 days. Jeff

    Why do you trade options?

Ron, I have also had the delayed fill problem on occasion, but with I.B., it is usually only an occasional problem and not the norm. Oddly enough, many times delayed fills end up being a positive surprise when they fill a sell order higher than my limit sell price. Jeff

    Why do you trade options?

I have been trading stocks and options almost a decade. The latter half of my experience has concentrated on OEX options, with occassional stock option trades, but the OEX is my staple. All my trading is straight call or put buying. Why do I trade options? Because I can concentrate on...

    EqtTrdr is right -No risk!!!

EqtTrdr, What year did they set the curbs at -5? If I remember correctly, wasn't it -200 in the 1990's? Jeff

How was your first week of 2007?

I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday Season. I thought it would be interesting and hopefully informative to hear how other traders faired in the first week of this New Year. I will start things off with my first week of closed positions for 2007: (Note: These are all OEX option trades)...
