    Investing in Bonds

2 other big differences between the I Bonds and TIPS. Tips have fluctuating principal. I Bonds do not. Secondly, I Bonds have a $30k purchase limit per person per year, TIPS do not.

How Did You Do In 2005?

Same problem as prior % polls. How will you define, in this case, the % return for a prop trader whose trading is based on varying buying power and not an asset base?

    dvp

That's funny. So, how might you be able to help someone in that situation? Edit: Ahh, now I c. You're a sales trader.

    dvp

Guys, DVP is used every day by MANY funds. It's not a "strategy" to be termed legal or illegal. Delivery Versus Payment is how those using prime brokers generally function. You do your trading wherever you choose to execute (and you have a DVP agreement with them), and your clearing...

    Ok Ok what edge

As my reference stated, "successful traders". I get your joke, and ye, haha. But in all seriousness I don't mean that their "system" is utterly feel based, but rather they trade based on a strategy used by others, but inject their superior market "feel" into the decision making process, as...

    Ok Ok what edge

For many successful traders, their edge is their "FEEL".

how can you tell which premrkt stocks will move and which won't?

This is like asking "how do you know exactly when to buy xyz and when to sell xyz." The ones who are very good at it, are not likely to spill too much, b/c picking the stocks to watch is just as critical as timing decisions you make. You choose crappy stocks, there will be little movement off...

    Can "Noise" Be Traded?

What some perceive to be "noise", may be taken as helpful information to others. For instance, think of how a new trader looks at the screen of all the quotes and sees all the flashing "noise". Slowly but surely he starts to see "things" within the "noise". Now take this idea to the next...

Why no one is trading LOL

We're out of the office, enjoying life a little. Call it "early retirement", for a couple days.

    NYSE Traders

NYSE can't eliminate NX. The only questions regarding NX for the Exchange are how and whether to expand Auto-ex. Uptick rule is another story. But one that is market wide; not specific to NYSE.

    zero coupon bonds

WHile I see how you arrive at your numbers (25/1000---280...)I believe your conclusion is off. First, if you read over to the YTM (yield-to-maturity), which seems more on target. Second IF it were 10% then this would not be an infrequent discussion. Everyone and their mother would be raving...

    Trading Intuition

I agree, however, in regards to FEEL, some just have it, and some just don't. And seeing many new traders come and go, I find that the importance of market feel for discretionary traders is way underated.

    Nyse Open Book ?

It's like poker. They don't show their hand unless they want people to see it. Usually your hand is hidden, but sometimes your hand shows, either by accident, or purposely. Learning to read the tape often gives you the ability to see the hidden hand.
