Auto Loan Delinquencies Surge 18% Among Young Americans

It's not a matter of being too dumb to figure it out. That's like asking me why I am too dumb to clean my own house or cut my own lawn. Why should I? Why should I bother to figure out all the stuff in my fancy car, when I have the people at the dealership who can instantly answer my...

Still in.....what now? Looking pretty toppy, and curve flattening. But we don't have negative rates yet.

Hedge Funds Shut as Managers Struggle in Year of Two Percent Returns

I am totally ignorant--please enlighten me. All anyone had to do for the last 2 years was stuff a bunch of blue chips into their mattress. Even a blind hog could make money. What is the deal?

study:vegetarians live an average of 6-9 years longer than meat eaters

Greasy cheeseburgers. I have a big fat one about every 6 months with some beer.

study:vegetarians live an average of 6-9 years longer than meat eaters

You can't get enough D from food anyway. You have to go out in the sun and sweat to make vitamin D (what we did back when "nature" was how we lived). We don't do that-- we sit in front of our computers. So in the modern world, we all have to take some D. You could take a single B12 tablet...

study:vegetarians live an average of 6-9 years longer than meat eaters

Yes, but keep in mind that insurance companies can detect substance abuse through urine screens. They can't easily figure out if you are a vegan, and most people lie about what they eat anyway.

About a quarter of the way through the book "Options, Volatility, and Pricing" by Sheldon Natenburg

It is definitely different from stock trading, but it depends on what you are trading. At first, do some research while the market is open, and then learn how much things vary. For example, if you are buying deep ITM calls as stock substitutes, you could probably research that after hours...

About a quarter of the way through the book "Options, Volatility, and Pricing" by Sheldon Natenburg

There is more practical information in McMillan. At some point in your paper trading, you'll have to figure out whether you want to trade direction or volatility (or both). Also you'll need to decide which time frames you are most comfortable with. But not to rush you....read some more, and...

Trading options - How to have an edge?

Read this. It may help you find an edge. http://www.amazon.com/Enhanced-Indexing-Strategies-Utilizing-Performance/dp/0470259256/ref=la_B001JSFDPE_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1411601345&sr=1-1 There is a rumor that this author blew up his account. However, his ideas are still valid. Just don't...

Simplest ever rebalancing investment strategy - Your thoughts - And how to back-test?

You are not likely to make anything on bonds--they are just for ballast in this kind of buy and hold scenario. What bonds have done in the last 20 years is unlikely to be repeated. OK to have 30% or 40% or 50% bonds if you are old, but at age 30, I would not be owning any bonds. At that age...

Simplest ever rebalancing investment strategy - Your thoughts - And how to back-test?

OK, but lots of questions remain for you, such as: which stocks? which bonds? and...what kind of cake?

    GPRO

I do not get the whole concept. Who the hell wants to look at a film of what I did all day? I don't even want to look at it myself.

    IRS claims I owe $5000

The IRS is frequently wrong about these things. I've gotten a few letters from them over the years that represent errors on their part. But they have always been for small amounts (less than $50). So I pay them, because involving my accountant costs more than that. But this is much more...

What does Karen the Supertrader and her results say about volatility? Oversold?

Agreed, Darwin. The amount of one's account that could be traded this way without taking on undue risk is so small that it makes the whole thing not worth doing. There are better (and safer) methods.

What does Karen the Supertrader and her results say about volatility? Oversold?

Why does everyone keep harping on 2008? It gets way worse than that. When I see stuff like this, I think about 1987. However, that was 27 years ago. Maybe there won't be another 1987 for 27 more years. Karen might not live that long, so maybe she will be lucky. I wouldn't want to trade...

    The Best Trading Proverbs

    Respiratory Syncytial Virus

There are already pretty good vaccines for these things out there. The bar for safety on these vaccines is very, very high. One eyebrow-raising adverse event (even if it cannot be definitively pinned on your vaccine) and your whole global program is kaput. It is hard to run a massive trial...
