    sweeping out profits

I personally have 2 accounts. In one account, I daytrade. I often use 4:1 leverage intraday, and go home with more than 1.5:1 overnight leverage. This account is very successful b/c I'm just using very short term trading in it. I usually average about 20-30% return monthly in it. My main concern...

    How do we Know ????

I personally agree with Metooxx. It doesn't matter how much more successful others are. I personally am successful enough that I can afford all my personal living expenses and also continue to grow my own account on almost a monthly basis. That's all that matters to me really. My account is...

    BRUT does liquidity rebates??

About a week ago, brut started popping up everywhere. Thing is, it's never size. I thought they were iceberged, but they're almost always like 100-300 shares. Sure is strange. I'd like to know which firm is using them.

    Firms stealing strategies....

Lets say though that you do pick those 50c stocks that go to 20. And you do it often over a few years. Wouldn't you think that others will just follow you. I'm not talking about daytraders. If you are buying something that trades 5k a day, you can realistically buy 10-20k a week and not move the...

    2002 is about over

As of oct 15, I was up 63% (this includes open losses in THV at market). I took a large hit on THC and didn't calculate a figure on NOV 1 (I usually calculate every half month). I assume that I'm probably around +50-55% now on the year (this includes THC/OMG losses that I closed out and open...

    a quick tax question

metooxx- My accountant wants me to take my 1% fee as part of my management company, and my performance allocation as a direct bonus to myself. He says that I can't deduct expenses against my performance allocation. I think that my fund expenses will be larger than my 1% fee. How can I deduct...

    Firms stealing strategies....

I was out last night, but a few responses. 1) I have no problems so far with IB. I'm trading well lately. 2) Someone mentioned that a number of top traders are leaving a well known firm because of them stealing strategies, can you elaborate? 3) I'm not talking about picking off flows for a...

    Firms stealing strategies....

Lets say that some customer consistently picks small cap stocks that go up huge. Wouldn't IB be able to monitor what his newest position that he's buying 2% of the company of is. In that case, if IB buys just 10k shares, it will be harmful. THey'll likely buy way more if this guy is a winner...

    Firms stealing strategies....

IB can't even process checks and account requests half the time. I don't think they have the ability to check my trading records, though I could be wrong. Honestly, I don't think there is any way to hide what you're doing, no sense in being Nixon paranoid either. As long as you can trust your...

    Firms stealing strategies....

I have spoken with a number of traders and quite a few are concerned that their brokers will or may have stolen valuable strategies. In trading, our strategies are our most vital strengths. It is for this reason that many top traders shy away from posting good information on these boards. With...

    Jim Roger's Article on Greenspan

http://www.safehaven.com/credit/credit110102.htm Scroll down about half the way. Interesting article on asset backed securitizations. It also makes the case, that the fed is somewhat irrelevent b/c in the last 26 quarters, the fed, through banks, only created 240b in credit, as opposed to 12t...

    Jim Roger's Article on Greenspan

Darkhorse, you and a few others are dead on. It all boils down to who reads fleck/rogers/grant, and those who don't. You have to read these people to understand the world. For those of you who like to read (I am one), I highly recommend reading "Manias, Panics and Crashes (A history of financial...

    Jim Roger's Article on Greenspan

I'd like to make 2 points- 1- Do any of you find it surprising that for a board of traders with 12k supposed members, only a half dozen or so have come to express their opinions on something that is so important to their careers. It once again shows that most people on these boards are...
