Can I hear about your worst trades ever?? Everyone will freely talk about their best ones...

I was also not too far away from losing EVERYTHING on XIV/SVXY on the early February blowout. Lost a little, but I could have been destroyed if I had not largely pulled out of those. Its like the gods aligned for me and I came through clean as a whistle. Actually made a good bit of money from...

Can I hear about your worst trades ever?? Everyone will freely talk about their best ones...

Dang, love this thread, glad to see I'm not the only one who has made some major booboos! I remember when I was in college, someone rear ended my Firebird, and it was totaled. I got a check for like $12,000 out of it. Back then tech stocks were hot, and I thought I was going to make a fortune...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Soes, you didn't block me because I told you not to sell at close yesterday and to stay in to enjoy the overnight pop, did you? Because that would be a weird situation, blocking someone because they made you thousands of dollars (at least if you had listened to them). Its OK to be wrong...

Haha everyone is enjoying their gains! :) Wow, 29,500, would be a huge bump in the DOW! Does anyone STILL think we are going to retest the February lows? Or can we all agree that is probably out the window for at least the very near future?

Is this right regarding these index futures?

Tommy, why would you say the 400 pt difference between NASDAQ composite and 100 is a good number to keep in the back of my mind? Isn't it kind of irrelevant as they are just index prices? Thanks!

Is this right regarding these index futures?

Looks like NASDAQ 100 spot is 7069 currently. So the future is priced slightly above current spot, much like the DOW futures. All is right with the world again. :) Thanks!

Is this right regarding these index futures?

Ohhh, I see. Thanks guys. I knew something had to be wrong! :)

Is this right regarding these index futures?

Thanks Robert. I know there is an interest component in there, i.e. like a cost to carry component. But wouldn't that be roughly the same between the two futures? And the dividend component - wouldn't that, all else equal, reduce the value of the DOW future since the DOW pays higher dividends...

Is this right regarding these index futures?

So I'm looking at the NASDAQ September 2018 futures here. https://www.marketwatch.com/investing/future/nasdaq%20100%20futures They are currently 7,110, with the NASDAQ at 7,526. Compare that to the DOW futures here: http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/equity-index/us-index/e-mini-dow.html DOW...

How do you determine rut in the markets are over?

Who is trolling in this thread? I get a very real sense that you are trolling. There is no one you can realistically be pointing to. Unless its S200. But he just seems very, very pessimistic.

How do you determine rut in the markets are over?

So, the market is going up like 70% or 80% of the time. I don't know the right number, but it typically goes up. So when it goes down for an extended period, or ever a short period but a very big down swing, I'm just generically calling that a "rut". I'm wondering how you would determine...
