Is Marx the greatest Political Philosopher, ever?

Indeed, Marx has often been criticized for his political thinking and a lot of that criticism may well be justified. But how modern history played out after Marx, is not just a product of what went on in Marx's head or Lenin's head or even Stalin's head. So much is due to historical...

Australia's Central Bank Raises Interest Rates by 25 Basis Points to 3.25%

I think they are possibly concerned with house prices which have held up far better in Australia than just about anywhere else. Probably the most expensive housing in the world right now.

    Short AMD

That is not exactly todays news. It is no secret that the i7 beats anything that AMD has to offer. Though "putting computing into the next dimension" is overstating the case just a wee bit. However in the lower to mid performance market (which is where the great bulk of CPUs are sold), AMD is...

10 Reasons Why Chrome OS Will Outshine Nokia, Linux on Netbooks

Depends what you mean by "seamless integration". For many non-business users, read and write Word documents is quite good enough.

10 Reasons Why Chrome OS Will Outshine Nokia, Linux on Netbooks

OpenOffice is close enough to MS Office in capabilities to meet the requirements of the vast majority of users.

10 Reasons Why Chrome OS Will Outshine Nokia, Linux on Netbooks

My impression is that Google Chrome is at least initially directed at netbooks. It is not the only Linux based player in this area. Intel is sponsoring Moblin: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=moblin_21_preview&num=1 Moblin is intended for both phones and netbooks...

The mother of all global warming lies

More dishonest and intentionally manipulative crap about climate change. RealClimate has a nice assessment of this sort of stuff. "The timeline for these mini-blogstorms is always similar. An unverified accusation of malfeasance is made based on nothing, and it is instantly...

    speeding up firefox

It does, but still in some sort of alpha state. I have tried it and was not at all impressed, though that may just reflect its stage of development.

Looking for market liquid than ES?

Not too amazing. These lists omit Asian markets such as Kospi, HSI, Nikkei etc. Kospi is very liquid as are the options as well.

    2 computers = 2 different charts

Still sounds like it is a clock related issue. If you are using IB data feed, there are no time stamps sent in the feed, so charting software way rely entirely on system clock. This will of course give candles that look different due to the time shift. PC clocks are not very accurate and do...

IB API with eSignal Data Feed

I've been using IQFeed via their API for a couple of months. Integration into my own Java code (running on Linux) took less than a day's work. I'm using the so called TCP "API" which is really just some messages containing comma delimited fields. These are simple to parse. Performance seems...

Time for some Virus Protection, Mac Fanboys

Well, if you go installing bogus video players and other trinkets, no operating system is going to save you from your own stupidity. Sounds to me like another vendor of "security software" trying to drum up some business.

    Give Iran a Nuke Already!

It is perfectly clear where the stone age mentality lies.

    Give Iran a Nuke Already!

According to this strange logic, it would be perfectly OK if Iran withdrew from the NPT and started a nuclear weapons program. It seems that it is the US and hangers on that are incapable to honoring international treaties.

    Give Iran a Nuke Already!

I think it is you who has got it wrong. Signatories to the NPT have the right to use nuclear energy in any and all ways for peaceful purposes including enrichment, reprocessing of nuclear fuels and so on. The US, Britain etc are demanding that Iran cease uranium enrichment. This is clearly...

IB API with eSignal Data Feed

No experience, but it hardly comes as a surprise. There is no reason to assume that eSignal data will be delivered via TWS API. You probably should be using eSignal API.

    Boycott Michael Moore

The captains of industry from before NAZI rule were the same captains of industry during NAZI rule. They benefited handsomely from it as did a number of US corporations including IBM. The economic system was capitalist through and through. What a political party calls itself frequently bears...

    Boycott Michael Moore

Really? You can find plenty of examples of capitalism without democracy. Nazi Germany being perhaps the worst. And tens of millions were killed.

    Trading CFDs via API

I don't know if you can use the API, but I think the only CFDs offered by IB are traded on the ASX. Is this what you want? Liquidity might be an issue.

    Windows 7

I wouldn't be in a hurry to do that. It's not clear yet what Chrome OS actually will be other than a Linux kernel, Chrome browser (or some derivative thereof) and a yet to be defined windowing system - possibly not X11. If it's not running X, there will initially be no Java runtime environment...
