    Black Swan Hedging

That is a very unlikely scenario. If you are going to bet on unlikely scenarios, you are not going to do well with any strategy, imho. I don’t think it’s that easy. One of the difficulties in hedging is actually monetizing your hedge. Are you going to close your hedge after 10% drop? That’s...

    Black Swan Hedging

If you have long-term horizon and not over-leveraged, just HODL. I would rather spend the money on lottery tickets.
  3. Q

    Black Swan Hedging

What is the reason for hedging? The events that you listed were good times to go long stocks and short volatility. Are you managing other people’s money?

Yeah one lot trading is always tough - all or nothing kind of. I would follow my general trading guideline: get to break even asap, take some profits when opportunity presents itself, leave a runner for a home run trade. But I don’t know if options are suitable to this kind of trade...

Anyone using IB to trade cryptos?

I don’t like below restrictions. Are native exchanges enforce similar restrictions? What are the minimum price increments for cryptocurrencies? The minimum price increments are: BTC: 0.25 ETH: 0.05 LTC: 0.01 BCH: 0.05 All exchange and custody services in connection with trading and holding...

I was not sure where to take this journal now. The only reason I have a journal is because it forces me to think things through more deeply (because millions of people are reading, lol). So I had an idea of how to try and salvage this journal. I have been trying to get a “cheap lottery ticket”...

Best realtime option scanner for daytrading?

It seems that lately option tail is wagging equity dog. The infamous gamma squeeze starts with buying of OTM calls. @destriero, any thoughts on this?

Best realtime option scanner for daytrading?

    This looks interesting. Thanks!

Anyone had a short recalled on them?

What happens if you are short the stock and it’s either taken private or taken over? I assume you must cover in the former. Are you automatically short the new company in the latter?

Best day trading books for stocks?

I find YouTube and Blogs much more useful and specific. Books are usually too generic.

    Crypto: Interesting numbers...

Well, you still talking about the tech which we agree. BTW, I remember a while back everyone was so excited about peer to peer lending via Prosper.com I lended some money and … they are gone :)

What if my view is : sideways with a dash of volatility? I am treating this trade like a game of poker - let’s see what card will be revealed next and act based on that. I got lucky initially (never expected such a big drop) so might as well press this to the end.

    Crypto: Interesting numbers...

Oh, no doubt the tech is here to stay. You replied to my comment regarding BTC or any other crypto currency. Outside of illegal activities and speculation, I don’t see a need for it (at least if you are US citizen)

    Crypto: Interesting numbers...

Correct me if I am wrong, but once the last Bitcoin is mined, the miners are supposed to be making money by charging transaction fees. Currently, I enjoy the fact that my money is insured and the burden of securing access to my money falls on the institution. The idea was to liberate money...

But it’s just how you want to look at it, no? At the origination, the max loss on the trade was about 4k. At this point, max loss is zero and max gain is 990 (theoretically speaking). Why do I have to look at this leg as a stand alone trade now? I have no idea. Can TSLA go back to 900 and then...

Are you confusing me with @KCalhoun?
  17. Q

    Alice in Optionsland

Hardly an options guy. If I were to close the long leg now, I would be in profit (mark to market) Think about it this way : I am holding 30DTE $990 TSLA put at zero cost - hence the lottery ticket.
  18. Q

    Alice in Optionsland

Yes I am finally break even on the trade, assuming long leg expires worthless. That’s crazy … TSLA had incredible volatility and range and all I get is a break even trade!? The only consolation is that I finally got that non-recourse leverage I’ve been dreaming about :)...

    Get long

So can you now share the why? Otherwise there’s nothing to learn from it.
