OK, I Quit. Trading is Too Tough for Me

As JH mentioned trading is counter-intuitive (counter-feeling) [actually I'm not his fan], meaning that the result is exactly the opposite of what we had wished. What JL had mentioned is still true, instead of hope you must fear and instead of fear you must hope. The question for us is WHEN...

Google Finance follows Yahoo: real time datafeed

Google Finance is just playing a catch-up with Yahoo. Unless Google builds up an API with capability of screening and access to brokers. Otherwise, their service remains for amateurs, unable to fulfill professional requirements.

Gas prices will fall to 2 dollars..

We need this kind of leadership during the early '80s to save the CAD (Canadian Dollar) from the free fall. Prime Minister Brian Mulroney declared categorically, “We will not allow Chicago speculators to determine the value of our currency. Our currency is solid and we will not permit it to...

    What's the best to trade?

Don't take tax in consideration. Trade what you feel most comfortable with. Better to pay higher tax rate by being successful than to pay lower tax rate by being so-so successful.

Do As I Say, Not As I Do

My first Wall Street book was :D No Bull: My Life In And Out Of Markets by Michael Steinhardt. Described in Investopedia as one of The Greatest Investors. Later, to find out that he's just one of the Wall Street's kids. Shouldn't have this merit comparing to other greatest.

Do As I Say, Not As I Do

I like this. Zweig says, "People somehow think you must buy at the bottom and sell at the top to be successful in the market. That's nonsense. The idea is to buy when the probability is greatest that the market is going to advance".

Do As I Say, Not As I Do

In your definition, a trader can't be broke, right? The fact remains that he was unmatched, he is and he will be.

    System drawdown

Excellent question. One who can effectively identify the range of wave (some call it as noise) will be very very rich. It depends for every stock. I have noticed that NASD stocks are very volatile than NYSE stocks and therefore drawdown for NASD stocks must be set lower (greater negative number)...

    Automated Trading Championship 2008

If it exists such solution, IBM would have invented. IBM can build the supercomputer, why not super algorithm? If they can but didn't do it, that's because they are ordered by the government to shut up to avoid killing the market and therefore the economy as a whole. Trading is 95% psychology...

    Seriously thinking turning Fulltime trader

Is it possible to accumulate your vacation time (by not taking a few years) to 2-3 months? And then trade full-time during your vacation. My opinion is that if you're not making enough money (not successful enough) during your part-time trading, then chances are there won't be big difference...

    discretionary entries but automated exits

[...] my objective analysis goes out the window [...] You're putting too much importance on how much loss and gain over the course of your holding, that will amplify your feeling going astray from what really happen on the price movement itself. Why not try to just look at price movement...

Say Hi to Hydrogen - Honda rolls out new zero-emission car

You're right. To make hydrogen you need another energy such as oil but again oil consumption will be much less than the actual consumption.
