Way to invest in commodities long term?

Nope. I was looking for the equivalent of GLD for the other major commodities (Lumber, orange juice, etc...)

The Top Seven Reasons Why 90% of Daytraders Fail

That's why many day traders trade very liquid markets that are hard to corner: forex and the major indexes.

Way to invest in commodities long term?

That was my point. That's why I was asking about simple, direct exposure to commodities.

Way to invest in commodities long term?

Aside from GLD and SLV are there any ETF which track the major commodities directly? I don't mean ETFs that consist of stock of companies that process a certain commodity. Futures don't allow you to hold on long term. Thanks.

    Buffett-style investing - a discussion

Not sure the old school approach will get you very far these days. The odds are definately against you. Aside from the factors that make stock investing VERY risky (management, debt, etc...) I think it is almost impossible to ignore macroeconomics when the expansion of the credit markets is...

Dow at 7600!!Not Today But Soon..

Actually I don't think that 7600 is that out of this world. For obvious reasons, 10,000 might be a bit of a bitch to break, however a break into the 4 digit area should make anybody think about scaling in.

Why gamble on stocks when we have SSO???

But that's my point about SSO. It turns the SP500 from a sluggish average of slow growers into an average of fast growers, making betting on individual stocks less necessary. Also, knowing which stocks will underperform the SP500 (or SSO) is not as easy as it looks. Indeed, the bank/insurers...

Mechanics of a major dollar collapse

Acumen, Ad the J-curve to that list, which over time allows a debased currency to attract interest through exports. Also a weak USD continuing to hurt the German exporting sector, which could plunge Germany further in a recession.

Why gamble on stocks when we have SSO???

Now that there is an ETF that tracks the SP500 (the strongest trending issue out there) with 2x leverage within the instrument, I don't understand why anybody would gamble on stocks that are potentially marred by rumors and the possibility of one losing the entire investment. Also, one is always...

Safe way to sell put options?

Nice to have an author of a popular options book respond. Thank you, Mark. I intended to combine selling puts and buying and hold SPY. As many of you said, unless you are willing to hold a stock indefinitely (even if it becomes a penny stock), this is quite risky. However, it seems to me that...
