    Swaps/Rollover Interest in Futures???

cvds16, both quarterly rollover and daily MTM (mark to market) are two sides of the same coin; both are futures deal-breakers for the OP. You do see that, right? Just so we don't accidentally miss the forest for the trees. GBP/JPY is one of the specific pairs he is working with. Another...

    Swaps/Rollover Interest in Futures???

    1. While currency futures offer better implied IRD and certain other benefits compared to cash forex (spot), the short answer to your question "Is there a way to rollover a contract without taking profit/taking a loss?" is NO. 2. I'm not sure if you're clear on this point yet... No...

Can someone explain this track record?

Actually, that performance table, showing time-weighted returns, is correct (or, more precisely, internally consistent). For example, let's take July: 2.0843 x 1.1162 = 2.3265 --> YTD (July) = 132.65%, as shown. No funny business here. Incidentally, here's the full record for that CTA...

"Record"? There is no record. Alex, hope you're being sarcastic, rather than sincere.

    CNBC Question

Right, absolutely no reason to ever listen to CNBC. I never have, watch Bloomberg streaming feed instead. "Fathead and the Cheerleaders"? no, never seen that flick, I swear.

Help! How much did I just lose!?

Hey, at least you don't take yourself too seriously. Good attribute for a trader... particularly one swinging huge size.

    susquehanna

You mean "even undergrads..." He's not. Incidentally, the OP never said anything about receiving job offers as a "trader." With that degree (from a grad school dear to my heart), most likely, his offers would be in an area such as research, analytics, modeling, FE, etc. You can never be...

    Closing FOREX postions on IB

OK. If so, you are not that far, in the big picture, from Chris, the young Navy HM in Japan from the other thread. Although he entrusted his entire savings, rather than borrowed funds... to a stranger, rather than a friend... hard to say which is more painful. Good luck to you.

    Closing FOREX postions on IB

http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79831 I don't know whether or not your story is for real, Mr. "Secretary of Defence Attache"... in what country would that be? In any case, some of your positions are too small to handle in IDEALPro and need to be closed in IDEAL...

    Daily Trading Strategies on Gold/Forex

 On my platform, both long and short orders would have been triggered and stopped out already. While there might be some small doubt (broker deviation) on the short entry execution, the long stop @610.5 was clearly hit, broken continuously from 4:05 to 4:40 ET, i.e., 3 hours...

    Autotrader

The real question you may want to ask yourself is -- given his scalping-like trading methods (high frequency, short duration, small TPs, even smaller per-trade expectancy of a few pips), can you replicate anywhere near his reported performance in your own retail account? Obviously, don't...

    Quantitative Finance

Yes, you'll definitely want to get your MQ up to 90% before you do anything else in MT4. Until you address that issue, none of your development work, no matter how painstaking, is going to be meaningful. Fortunately, it's not hard to do and only needs to be done once, for each currency or...

    Quantitative Finance

Your entire backtest is based on 2 days' worth of cable 1m bars and you are averaging a trade about every 20 minutes, is that correct? If so, you may be disappointed in a longer forward test, let alone live trading. Also, why is your MQ "n/a" rather than the maximum 90%, essential for all...

Beat me to it... see edit. ;) You can still use the Update Now feature any time.

    Windows time sync with CME

Right-click on the Task Bar clock - Adjust Date/Time - Internet Time tab - Update Now. (2 servers to choose from.) If you check the "Automatically synchronize..." box, Windows will do this weekly (as long as you are online), but I also do it manually more often than that.

What is the Best FX Broker?

Sure thing. Keyword = Oanda, Search titles only, Show results as threads. There you go... settle in and make yourself comfortable. And, while you're at it, don't forget the CliffsNotes version, gloriously raw and unmoderated, the broker reviews section.
