What is the Best FX Broker?

MountainTrader, I am having some trouble with your math and your terminology. First, 25 pips is always going to be worth $250 "per lot", on any ---/USD pair, regardless of leverage. Second, it seems you might be using the terms "margin" and "risk" interchangeably. Risk (in %) of a trade...

What is the Best FX Broker?

Agree. Besides scalping, simultaneously employing multiple weakly-correlated strategies is one case when higher maximum available leverage could be both justifiable and useful. We're talking leverage at the overall portfolio or account level, not individual strategy or trade level. At least...

$1 million lottery ticket for sale

Exactly. I'd say more of an elementary Finance / Investment 101 problem than anything from probability or statistics. Quick and easy to do on a HP 12C, or similar. Or just google "NPV calculator"... there are a ton of them online.

    open and close times

Yes, this is correct, most of the time. Two comments. First, you'll want to keep in mind (especially if you ever do any backtesting!) that Alpari servers are synchronized with CET, year round. As it happens, Europe adjusts for DST (daylight saving time) later in the spring and earlier in...

    Collective2

Actually, a vendor can't remove any of their systems from C2. If you discontinue any system ("This system is no longer supported"), it'll still show up on the "Other systems by ..." page under your name. Look for the link "Vendor has created N other systems. (See all)" in the "System...

    Trading and Dating

Pilots, shpilots. Sure, your occupation, money, looks, personality, humor, whatever... each can help. However, what many a woman really, secretly, deep down wants, desires, craves -- but will never tell you -- is a man she cannot control. Don't know how that Freud fella could've possibly...

University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index

Jan. 1978 - Dec. 2006: In terms of the computation algorithm, if I did the math correctly just now, 76.01 is a "neutral" value of the UMCS Index. The theoretical range is from 2.00 to 150.02.

    Van Tharp Courses for Sale

LC, just play'em on your car stereo, instead of that worn-out copy of Headbangers Ball you've got stuck in there. :p I own both courses, and would recommend each highly. Actually managing to work through the Peak Performance Course is likely to do anyone more good than just reading every...

finally got money gack from refcofx

Good to hear that. Interestingly, 70% is neither 85.6% nor 37.6%, as reported by the wires a few weeks ago. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83358

What is the Best FX Broker?

No. The statement "unless you are losing you will always make more money with higher leverage everything else being equal" is false. And some people who warn against high leverage are basing their reason on understanding the principles of money management. Every trading strategy has an...

What is the Best FX Broker?

Yeah, I am on that forum. As far back as the fall of 2005, they assured me on the phone that a multi-client interface, which I already needed, was both high priority and imminent. Great! -- right up there with that rocket-science trailing stop, apparently. "Underpromise and...

A Very Simple Profitable Method for FX

nonlinear, OT is just having some fun at the expense of a certain long-running ET thread. Although its "strategy" is non-specific to the point of being completely untestable, it seems to draw a lot of people, and praise. Shhh, don't tell anyone...

    w00t! IB Trading Olympiad begins

No, that's 100% false. Impossible to pull off at IB. Even ignoring for the moment any multiple-registration contest rules they must have in force. You could always collude, I mean, collaborate with a partner, agreeing to share any prize money, although, sadly, not bragging rights or an offer...

What is the Best FX Broker?

Excellent list, waxwing. No one yet mentioned Oanda sub-accounts, linked for nearly-instant online transfers yet fully independent otherwise. Hard to overestimate their value for: - managing more than one strategy; - managing more than one time frame; - applying different money...

The Sopranos on A&E is ridicolous with commercials. No joke every 5 minutes !!

Or simply had to somehow fill an hour-long slot after a "basic cable edit" of what was originally a somewhat uncensored 58-minute show. Isn't showing "The Sopranos" on A&E kind of like franchising the Bada Bing strip club in Saudi Arabia?

    lowest spread on weekends?

Their platform may be open -- you can login and maybe even play around -- but you can't close an existing trade or open a new one. Which is kind of the whole point, the definition of "open for trading on weekends", isn't it? Go ahead and try it for yourself anywhere, on a minilot. I would...

    To shut down or not?

I am nothing if not for conserving energy and saving the environment, but that Tufts "study" is ivory tower nonsense. Have they ever heard about Energy Star compliant hardware? Most monitors made today will go into a sleep mode and consume as little as 8 Watts, when not in use. You can...

    lowest spread on weekends?

I asked because AFAIK the number of forex dealers open for trading on weekends is exactly 1. Besides Oanda (whose weekend spreads on all the majors and several crosses are 10 pips, not 20), where else have you opened or closed a trade on a weekend?
