NY Jewish gem dealer labeled "terrorist"

These are examples of how the media is manipulating the masses by gradually erasing Osama, Saddam and the Iraq-quagmire from our collective consciousness. A few months from now, these distasteful subjects will seem like a bad dream.

    DMI/ADX consistently works

True. Maybe something that measures a stall in momentum since ADX is a lagging indicator.

    Professional Trading Tour

They're good for the entire daytrading industry. A continual supply of fresh newbies keeps the prop firms in business and helps lower costs for experienced traders. Plus, the influx of "dumb" money ensures profit opportunities (not to mention commission overrides) for veterans. It's a...

NY Jewish gem dealer labeled "terrorist"

If you assume the gem dealer didn't know he was helping Arab terrorists, I'd agree with you.

NY Jewish gem dealer labeled "terrorist"

Funny how this story somehow escaped being mentioned by major US news sources: http://www.jewishsf.com/bk030815/usp33b.shtml Goes to show that money is color-blind and transcends religious hatreds.

How much profit makes daytrading worth it (as your only job)?

If trading is NOT stressful, then you're probably trading in 100 share lots and losing $10 when you're wrong. When you start taking on serious positions or trade OPM (other people's money) then you'll learn what stress is. Or maybe you just have so much money that you don't give a shit and...

Trade only 20-30 times a month with prop firm, do they allow that ?

That sounds reasonable. That translates to $100 in commissions per day which is very low to begin with. Heck, I can do that in two hours! High volume traders can do that in a few minutes!

How good a track record is good enough ?

I don't think outside money would be interested in a part-time trader with a full-time job. The expertise just isn't there. I certainly wouldn't invest with someone who trades very small volume on a part-time basis and who has a buy-side bias, regardless of track record.

Trade only 20-30 times a month with prop firm, do they allow that ?

You can trade remote with a prop firm. But if you want to trade the firm's capital, you have you get your Series 7, 63 and 55. By trading remote, you don't have to do a lot of volume because the costs (to the prop firm) of being a remote trader are much cheaper than being a trader that...

    Pairs Trading Strategy Model

LTCM failed because they began to make more directional bets, abandoning the cautious hedging strategy that had been its trademark. With spreads shrinking in bond arbitrage due to other copycat firms, LTCM was desperate to park its capital someplace else. The fund started dabbling in equity...

    Pairs Trading Strategy Model

To be more specific, is relative value intra-day pairs trading (comprised of being long one stock and short the other in a pair) a consistently profitable technique for listed equities? And is there really a "hedge" in this type of transaction? Given that there are many pairs traders who are...

    Pairs Trading Strategy Model

No, but their whole bond arbitrage strategy was based on deviations from the mean between historically related bond-instruments. Like equity pairs, they sought to take advantage of large deviations by shorting overvalued instruments and buying undervalued ones.

    Pairs Trading Strategy Model

Is intra-day pairs trading worthwhile? Or is pairs more suited to swing and position trading? I'd like to try implementing intra-day pairs for listed stocks but I want to make sure the potential profit offsets commissions. Doesn't pairs trading rely on efficient market theory, which was...

Sounds better than "Trillium" or "infinium"! Those names sound like Star Trek creatures or chemical compounds!

Can Prop firms benefit well-capitalized traders?

Agree 100% with the first paragraph. As for the second, I know prop LLCs that absorb these expenses.

Why do traders blame their firms for not succeeding?

The capital requirement is standard procedure so that prop firms protect themselves from potential losses. This is understandable. Trader turnover is high because of lack of discipline, lack of proper training, outrageous commissions or a combination of all three...

Fired!*U-5 HELP! Shady broker gave me a negative comment...

The comment on your U-5 doesn't seem too bad. You could probably explain it away if it ever became an issue. The types of comments on your U-5 that should make you sweat are things that deal with violating SEC regulations or have the words "securities fraud" or "embezzlement" in them.
