    Equidistant Trailing Stop Daytrader

tell me about it. I'm the worlds worst breakout trader. Try this some time if you want to feel real pain. Use 2 pt stop and reverses. Long at 26, then short at 24, then long at 26 then short at 24, oh well I guess I should have faded this one, well now here we are at 26, I'll hang on and...

    Equidistant Trailing Stop Daytrader

tradenut, If the market is random, it's 50% I suppose. It's like entering a new trade at the current price with equidistant target and stop. But if the market is not random, then what has moved 1.25 points is more likely to continue to move another point than it is to reverse for 1 point and...

    Equidistant Trailing Stop Daytrader

Dear Uncle Sam, I realize I owe you a little bit of money, but at the end of the quarter, things were going swimmingly well. Since that time however, I have come upon a little bad luck. If I pay you what I owe you, I will have to drop size, and even then, I will be cutting it so close...

    Equidistant Trailing Stop Daytrader

but I think over time, any trader can use any consistent entry and turn profitable just using any stop and converting it to a trailing stop when the market has moved the distance of the stop in the traders favor. I know of no way to improve this method. The keyword being "over time". But Uncle...

    Equidistant Trailing Stop Daytrader

tradenut, same here, for us small movers, that trailing stop is a killer. The bigger the moves, the more attractive it becomes. Like I said, my guess for ES would be about 6.25 minimum for a trailing stop to start being attractive. And that is coupled with a 6.25 minimum target. I'm using...

    Garbage Is Good

am not. It's a classic set up. High, low, then lower high, then a break of the low. The question is, which came first, the zig zag set up or the rolling papers?

6k drawdown plus 4k margin. Hard to believe with just 10k you can beat 90% of all traders. Not to mention the S&P. So that's a 60% drawdown. How many funds could have gone on to be profitable if only they hadn't shut down at 50%?

excellent point inandlong, don't think about it too much or I might get depressed. Painful but true. Yes, the "other". Can't stop now or the law will catch up with me. Dang those averages anyway.

Eddy you're a good guy. Thanks for the test. Personally, I have areal problem with taking small profits. So for me, it's either the target or the highway. Otherwise I will close every trade out at 1 tick. My numbers went up nicely though when I started at least protecting my entry plus...

    Equidistant Trailing Stop Daytrader

The 3 prong approach 1. Thinking right 2. Money Management 3. Reading the market to me thinking right is most important for example, when I say I can hit 50% just by buying even and selling odd numbers, if you think that's not possible, then the first thing you should be thinking is...

    Equidistant Trailing Stop Daytrader

well, anybody think they could hit a 6 pt target before getting stopped out with a 6 pt trailing stop 50% of the time? What the heck good is TA if you can't even do that?

    Equidistant Trailing Stop Daytrader

right Eddy, Now you are thinking right. As soon as you trail, you take away the 50/50 odds. So hitting 50% with a fixed stop should be easy and mathmatically normal. Hitting it with a trailing stop would require some skill. Just something to think about. appreciate the analysis...

    Equidistant Trailing Stop Daytrader

The trailing stops magic is it forces smaller losses than max profit. No, I don't use them, but for a patient trader, moving the stop up to breakeven and then trailing beats anything that I now use. I use targets and fixed stops because those limitations provide dependability.

    Equidistant Trailing Stop Daytrader

nitro, Yes, I trade all kinds of random systems. I constsantly test all kinds of variations. When I am not seeing the market well, I fall back on random systems. Random beats the heck out of bad trading, when you are doing everything exactly wrong. Random trading gets me back to equal...

    Equidistant Trailing Stop Daytrader

this ones for the guy who thinks he can guess right 50% of the time if it's going to be an up day or down day. It trades once a day and uses wide stops. 1. Guess 2. Set target and trailing stop to equal value. If you're right 50% of the time, and the times you are wrong the market moves...

    Order Placement

oh man, I hate to hear that. You know there is someone out there who has some computer system that enters and cancels a million orders per minute, so that is probably why they did it. Hope a flee to globex will make them rethink, but Eurex is the leader, so possibly globex will follow...

tws bigtick breakeven stop + commish

and don't even talk to me about those scroll down ladders. I feel sorry for the poor guy who lives in Washington state. Because everytime he enters his address he has to scroll all the way down to the bottom. "Move to Alaska, where entering your address is quick and easy!"

tws bigtick breakeven stop + commish

here's one I just noticed. You can set up a hotkey to move your stop up to breakeven plus commish. For instance on ES, if you regularly use 3.5 stops (14 ticks), but you like to move it up when the mkt is 2 pts in your favor set up the big tick hotkey to 15 ticks then all you have to do...

    A Beginning Or An End?

after we hit 950 it goes short one tick below the next candle on the 5 min chart like I said it's 100%, so don't get your hopes up about a move up after 950
