    Adventures in Automation

fan27, I was wondering if in your testing you factor in profitability during RTH and ETH. Were the closing of your trades evenly dispersed across both time frames and was there any disparity of the win/loss ratio in those two time frames?

    Some Technical Questions

I was commenting that I agreed with some of Overnight's post which was responding to qlai's post which was responding to straightjacket's post about waiting for trades to go against his original trade thesis coupled with wider stops giving him better results, which sounds to me like random...

    Some Technical Questions

I agree that MAE and MFE are not the best when used for optimizing profits or stops. But they are important to determine a trade signal's strength. Doesn't really matter what your trade triggering event is, it needs to be better than random. MAE/MFE numbers, when they are applied to time and...

All market gains since 1993 have occurred after hours

That is of interest. I would suggest to try and isolate when/where profits are coming from, try opening the trade at 3:00am NY time (European Open) and compare it to opening the trade at US market close. You might find that the US close to the EU open is similar to the US RTH. At least you...

Reality is someone trading this strategy (at least in S&P futures) is that they are going to be paying a $4 commission and a minimum one tick difference from recorded open/close...

Is Trading Itself a Bad Trade? I Analyzed the Industry- Prove Me Wrong

Extreme risk aversion could be a form of psychosis, I am not sure. Attempting to monetize every aspect of life could be another. For some, riding/racing jetskis could simply be enjoyable, everyone one is wired differently and some do not put wealth acquisition as the summom bonum of life. Many...

Is Trading Itself a Bad Trade? I Analyzed the Industry- Prove Me Wrong

Most of the population does not attempt trading at anytime in their life. Most of the population dies in debt. Is the conclusion that everything except trading will leave you broke let alone waste all of your valuable time...

Seeing Numbers and Charts in my sleep!

Butting in here, with retail forex you are trading against the brokers algo that creates/maintains the spread. With Forex Futures there is no spread and your broker is not running an artificial spread algo against you.
