    ECN revolution

It's counterintuitive, but oftentimes a non-ECN environment works for you. See RTHarp's and Don Bright's comments on PropTrading: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3122&perpage=6&pagenumber=3

    Beating Buy and Hold

But this is only for a pool of stocks not an index, etc.

    Beating Buy and Hold

James O Shaunessey's What Works on Wall Street. He researched fundamental analysis (P/S ratios, etc.) on 40 yrs of stock prices to find what beat the SnP (but only by a 3-10 points). Odds are it will work in the next 40 years.

    Motivation for Trading

I actually really enjoy my "day job", so for me there's only one reason: I love looking at charts, back testing, coming up with new indicators and every other aspect of trading. This probably isn't good: but I'd rather trade than eat...

better late than never I guess

By the way, I noticed that more than 2 decimals shows up in the Account/Executions window as well.

better late than never I guess

I have noticed this as well. I'm a newbie, so I just thought NAS went to 3 decimals. For example, my monthly IB stmt has me selling RARE for 24.399. I take it that's really 24.40?? (This is fairly common for me. It seems to have just been happening in the last couple months.)

    Swing Trade Ideas and Softwares...

Amibroker provides a URLGet function that easily pulls the source html for a given web address. I'm too poor to afford an expensive screening service, so I've used it to automatically parse out the financial information in Yahoo's profiles on a 1000+ tickers so that I can pull current ratios...

    Swing Trade Ideas and Softwares...

You might also check out Amibroker - it also does scans, backtesting and the like for swing trading. I've found it to be fast and easy-to-use. It also has vbscript capability for those who want to do a little of their own coding. As far as wishes: I would like very easy handling of...

    Compensation

Thanks - that helps tremendously. I COMPLETELY misunderstood the accounting part of it - although I still don't believe he deserves that kind of money...

    Compensation

I bought some ARXX for a swing-type trade but just noticed that the CEO exercised 14 million in stock options last year and this year was awarded another 35 million! (Nobody's that good if you ask me...where's Buffett when you need him?) This is almost equal to earnings. What I am wondering...

    Open Prices

Last night I pulled 20 NAS stocks to watch today. I noticed before the mkt opened that NAS futures were down and, sure enough, 18/20 opened lower than Friday's close. That seems too coincidental (but then I'm new at all this). What major "forces" usually determine open vs. last night's...

    Breakout

I found a stock going through a new breakout (of its previous high). One thing that really attracts me to it is the fact that there is an incredibly high percentage of insider acquiring. Is this really that positive of a sign? Do you feel that insider purchases have any correlation in this...

    Finding a stock's sector

This isn't quite what you want and you've probably already run across it, but I'll just mention that Quicken has very detailed screening by sector and many other variables, but it doesn't go down to the ticker level. http://www.quicken.com/investments/stocks/

    Market Rise

I'm SO confused. I don't want to go down the road of a recent board about patriotism and shorting, etc. But I can't help but ask about Yahoo asserting several times that yesterday's rise was mostly due to short covering. http://biz.yahoo.com/mu/update.html "All in all, not a bad day...

    A/D Line

Thanks! This site is great! Also: Put/Call is in there as well. Simply do Market Summary and go down quite a ways and you'll see it.

    A/D Line

Quick question: does anyone know of a site that plots the A/D (for NYSE and/or NASDAQ) line? I'd like to look at a few months or more of history if possible. Thx...

    IB: The Party Is Over

I've got a small cash-only, IB account and use it to essentially "paper trade" while I'm learning. I've got no interest at this point in doing margin/options. On Friday, IB told me that whenever I closed a trade my funds would be frozen for 3 days. Can someone please tell me why IB would...

    Buyback

If a stock is entering into a buyback program, is that generally good or bad if you want to go long? I found a stock that was rising quite well, but appears to have flattened and I'm wondering if it's just temporary cuzz that's when they started buying back??
