Pulled down 37 stocks I think it was. The problem I'm having is identifying the cycles, but I'll keep working at it. Kind of fun: some of my backtested methods are supercharged(because of the inherent fundamental bias of course). Makes me feel like a financial genius. But I know...

Very interesting. I'm at work so I can't ask much, but one question: you obviously feel that if a stock exhibits five good cycles in about six months, then generally it will do so again on an ongoing basis? Don't fresh market conditions, earnings reports, etc. tend to alter this. I mean one...

    1. I went back through and noticed how often the price and volume couple and decouple from themselves in the IBD stocks according to the pattern that you left in that pic. But here's what's confusing me: the IBD stocks seem to rarely follow a nice, neat bowl or saucer shaped pattern. The...

Thx for the charts - they helped a lot. I think I'm starting to see what you're getting at if all of this ties into C&H's. The one thing I'm curious about is how common this is - I'm going to look at some of my previously IBD-chosen charts and see if I can make some connections.

No prob. I've got a bunch of new things to look into. And anybody who's a EE is all right by me. (That was my undergrad and grad degree.)

I've got a few more questions after re-reading the "M" chapter. (I know I'm asking a gazillion questions - lemme know if it's too much.) 1. Were you saying in an earlier post that you really don't care about the long term or even intermediate trend per say as long as the major indices show...

Still more questions: ************************************************* Lok at the line between 3 and 0. Find the middle, fill in 2 and 1 so they form a sequence downward to the trough. Now you see that the 1 becomes a zero in a couple of days...

Thanks for the elaboration. Again, I appreciate the input. But of course I still have a number of questions if you don't mind: 1. What are C&H's? 2. Do you use additional fundamental/balance sheet analysis to tighten your universe? 3. Do you use more "subjective" (by that I mean...

I know others on ET would disagree, but I agree with you actually about not getting too specific. I actually have come up with my best ideas and learned the most by just experiementing. I personally would never follow someone else's algorithm or methodology exactly: I actually don't want to...

I never really answered your question though: I actually enjoyed every chapter in the book. But underneath I can't stand the idea of sitting out for four or five years of a secular bear.

I know you have a lot of experience, so I'd enjoy hearing what you have to say. Let me say what I really liked about the book: 1. Underneath I believe in "technimentals", i.e. fundamentals are as important as technicals. 2. I like the idea of buying the best of the best breaking out of...

I've always been attracted to Canslim (which shows how pathetic my life is). But here's my question to all the Canslim experts: what is so marvelous about a strategy that only works in bull markets? I'm not trying to be inflammatory, but it's that very issue that made me give up on it after...

Anybody know who might be involved in Visa transaction processing??

Citizens Bank members were closed down - see cnn - but a hack of that many cards came from one of the large processors. This is almost for sure much bigger than just a bank.

I need career advice. Degree in Computer Enginerring?

Also, I haven't heard a lot of stories about foreign outsourcing, but what I have heard has been bad - real bad. Miscommunication, slow communication, lack of control, cultural differences, etc. etc. are the problems that I've heard. Imo this sounds like a fad that will fade in popularity as...

Another option is getting a few programming classes under your belt, particularly concentrating in SAS, VBA, VB, Access and all things financial. Then, if you can break into a business/sales/accounting/finance dept as a dirt-cheap business analyst, you can be shortly thereafter be a hero. A...
