Would you let McMillan control your money?

Good to hear. I am going to one of their FREE all day seminars in July.

give me odds on Cramer being yanked off CNBC by the end of the year..

Hmmm, Cramer futures, what a concept. What exchange would they trade on? Same one as pork bellies and horse manure?

So how do they really "make sausage" in the options market?

I was having a discussion on another message board about option pricing. I was going by what McMillan says in "McMillan on Options" that there are just way too many strike prices, expirations, etc, for it to be done manually, that computers handle the whole mess. The other person was saying that...

Would you let McMillan control your money?

Nevermind. I found it. Not too impressive, I think I'll pass. Plus, with the $1M minimum I wouldn't have much left to lose on my own :) . BTW, I guess I have a different idea about arbitrage than they do. I thought it was a sure deal for profit, like buy/sell the S&P and sell/buy the...

Would you let McMillan control your money?

I registered at the website http://www.hardelcapital.com and got a username and password, but it won't let me log in. You know of another place to look?

Would you let McMillan control your money?

Why? If you trust him well enough, and his performance is adequate, then why not let him handle the options part of the portfolio? I'm actually more interested in his volatility arbitrage fund, which is beyond what I want to get into. Is it true that if you don't fsck it up that arb can be...

Would you let McMillan control your money?

I see on his website http://www.optionstrategist.com that he has both managed accounts and a volatility arbitrage fund for qualified investors. I'm trying to get performance numbers on the arb fund but haven't been successful so far. It seems the managed account does covered calls.

    Strangles and Earnings

Anyone here ever try playing the volatility on rate sensitive stocks aroung Fed meeting time? They always say anticipated Fed moves are already priced in beforehand, but I still see quite a bit of movement sometimes.

    The Options Game

Van Tharp has some kind of trading game on www.iitm.com. It looks like you have to download it, which probably means it runs in Windows, which leaves me out. They say it takes six months to play.

Do you have any experience with 'Cashflow Heaven.com'?

Can you recommend any good ones in this price range? I've been thinking of trying RedOption's CC service.

    Advisory Services?

Can you keep us posted on how you do with WP? How (and what) did they do during the recent market downturn? Do they only trade index options?

    Shorts vs. Puts

BTW, I asked a TA guy I know who said it might be a good short if it passes 33 resistance. Then it will be overbought. Just passing this along FYI.

    Shorts vs. Puts

TOS lists UAUA as "Hard to borrow" so you might not be able to short it. Also, if you buy the put and it goes to $26 you should make more than 2.80 due to time value and volatility, depending on which expiration you buy. For example, right now the Jul 35 puts are selling for about 3.30 and...

    My Conclusions

Yeah, I went back and edited my post at the same time I was adding the web address, but assigned is still correct. You hold a long call, it is assigned to someone who holds the short end of it. That's the way I felt. They had a few other "trick" questions which I don't recall at the moment.

    Decisions, decisions

Yeah the shorties have hit this one pretty hard. They keep arguing that the divvy has to run dry one of these days, but so far it hasn't. Company says the 5.60 divvy is already in the bank for 2006, and they are working on 2007. They have been doing pretty well the last couple of years with...

    My Conclusions

Wrong answer. I was reading a website (http://www.21stcenturyinvestoreducation.com) the other day with an options knowledge quiz. That was one of the questions. Their answer was that if you somehow forget or fail to close your long call that is ATM or slightly ITM, it can be exercised...

    Decisions, decisions

The underlying is NFI. They currently pay 5.60/year dividend. At PPS $30 that's over 18%. If someone wants to pay me 7.90 to buy it at 30, my cost would be 22.10. Then the current divvy would be more like 25% for the new shares. I think the market would keep the PPS above that just because of...

    Decisions, decisions

[Warning: volatility traders, greek-neutrals, etc probably don't want to read further. You might get upset.] I wound up having 1000 shares of stock put to me yesterday. My cost was 33.30 and the stock is now trading at 29+. In order to salvage something I was looking at Jan 07 LEAPS. I can...

    My Conclusions

Didn't McMillan address the "X% of all options expire worthless" myth? I think it might be that [80,85,90] percent of options are not exercised. IIRC most of them are closed on expiration day, but something less than 50% actually expire worthless and unexercised. Also, 80% can't expire...

How to assess assignment risk when naked goes ITM?

I had 1 ITM put contract exercised on me last week. I guess maybe the owner had some stock he wanted to get rid of.
