Quick Please help me on my first options trade

I had a limit order in for 1.20 for about 1/2 hour but it didn't get filled, so I changed it to 1.25. Funny, TOS was listing it at 1.00 but I think they might base it on last trades instead of current bid/ask. Sure, if you want to make the effort to follow it in the journal section I would...

    Housing Rolling Along 2

I knew I worded that poorly. I meant that about two years ago the fence sitters decided it was time to buy since rates were going up. Maybe they had waited because their houses were appreciating, but then decided it was time to trade up, adding fuel to the already overheated market. Now...

    Housing Rolling Along 2

It seems that at least in California prices really skyrocketed starting about two years ago, which would roughly coincide with the Fed starting to raise rates again. I wonder how many people decided that it was time to buy before rates jumped higher. Now I wonder how many people are waiting...

No, in the States the broker is required to give you the CBOE pamphlet, and IIRC you are required to check the box saying you received it. Edit: Besides he only bought 2 contracts.

Quick Please help me on my first options trade

When you buy options the extent of your risk is the premium you paid. Plus, if you don't sell them before expiration, and they are in the money, they will be exercised. In your case I don't know if XLE is settled in cash or stock, but you will wind up selling the underlying. If you don't own...

Jim Rogers: Oil will hit $100

I was going to post the link to the original article and comment that marketsurfer's new supply had better come online pretty soon. BTW, there is some speculation that the Saudi Ghawar field is already beginning to decline.

    Housing Rolling Along 2

I've never understood "price range marketing". So instead of saying "I want $500,000, make an offer" they are now saying "I want $475,000 to $525,000, and I won't even consider anythihng lower than $475,000"? I'll still offer whatever I think it's worth. If they won't even look at it then...

I also think you can 1) ask for an extension; 2) open an account and not fund it, which lets you keep using the paper trading.

How many ways to trade options

To really make a guaranteed income, you should package those 26 strategies up into a slick 2 day seminar and charge $3000 to attend. Maybe sell an expensive subscription to a software service too.

A good example is GOOG last week - earnings right before OE. High IV leading up to the event, then it just did nothing. Would have been a great time to sell a straddle. IIRC, the 390/390 lost almost $30 on Friday. I think you had to go out 60 points in either direction to have a losing short...

Do you use PowerOptions to find your picks? Just wondering because I've seen KCI and NTRI listed there with fat premiums.

Jim Rogers: Oil will hit $100

And many refineries are old and falling apart, and they aren't building new ones. Kind of makes you wonder about the tankers. Why aren't they building new ones?

Jim Rogers: Oil will hit $100

Why would a refinery accident cause the price of oil to go up? Seems like it would decrease the demand temporarily and cause the price to go down. Price of GAS would rise though.
