Was 2009 a disaster? What are you doing for 2010?

2009 to me was a terrific year. 3 digit gains on my account, although most of the gains (i'd sayu 75%) came from the 1st quarter from shorting. During the way up i didn't manage to grab so much of the opportunities... my systems got whipsawed on most assets, altohugh watching in a graph those...

    Technical Analysis of Gold

Yes it can be sometimes very subjective... but what I do is when I don't know what it is I don't try to force a count. I just stay out or have no stand relative to it. Sometimes the count can be messy and hard to count. If that happens I just stop. Sometimes the count is VERY CLEAR. These...

    Technical Analysis of Gold

Thank you. Yes it is EW. I do use EW on my long term bias, although I don't base my trades in it. So far it has proved to be good to me. I don't see why so many people are saying EW was dead after 2009 rally, when in fact it helped to get out of shorts near the lows and sto start accumulate...

    Indian and Chinese ETFs

I believe we are in a big bull market in India since March. I entered IFN, INR (in Paris) and JII (in London) around mid-March. Since then I've just played the "monthly plan" thing... since I believe we're in a big bull there I plan on keep adding $$ every month there... if long term trend...

    Do markets change? Trend Following.

Very interesting what you say about Transtrend--- so what they do is nit-pick economically and fundamentallly the best potential universe of assets at a certain point and then apply their systems onto the assets they think economically and fundamentally that have more potential? Is that it...

    Do markets change? Trend Following.

Believe me any trend follower would greatly accept a more smooth equity without sacrificing much or any of the returns... AFJ Garner just answered it. Smoothing out the equity is trying to preserve the same returns with less downside volatility... I can name a few out of my head that...

    Do markets change? Trend Following.

No Michael what I got from the guys quote and from Tharp and I agree is to have multiple systems based on different strategies running in order to smooth out the equity. Maybe having a LTTF system and a sideways market system... And if you check Abraham Trading Capital and other hedge funds...

Soloflex & Home Gyms in General

I have a few free weights at home and used to go to the gym when i wasin the football team. After graduating, I kind of stopped working out as much and gym membership was a total waste of time. Inspired by some videos I saw from one guy making his exercising journal, I bought a set of...

that's why it's called pyramiding and not inverted-pyramiding. :) Pyramiding assumes the first entry is the largest, and the new entries from there on are smaller and smaller the more entries you have. Pyramiding if done correctly can make a whole year... we have to take advantage when trends...

yup but in IB you're not allowed to trade in 1000 unit sizes. I think IB minimum is 25,000 unit increments.... so it makes them more flexible

So you think what they paid in comissions is more than double what they got ? I took liberty to do some math... An hedge fund going for 25% annual returns GROSS, that charges 20% annual fee translates to a net annual return of 20%. Here's what an investor would pay Soros along the 22...

well think again pal, Bill Dunn and john henry don't justify the returns? lol first of they don't charge the 2, from the 2 & 20. They only charge comissions if they make profits. Bill Dunn has been in the business for almost 40 years with a compounding return of 20% for the paste 35+ years...
