How do I start a business managing people's money?

Different states have different rules regarding when you don't need to register as an investment adviser and under what circumstances you are able (or unable) to charge a performance fee.

Todays massive up move in the market

Oversold bounces like today that don't make much sense are the norm not the exception. Take a look back at previous bearish periods and you'll see similar stuff. It's rare to get an extremely consistent downtrend even if there are horrible fundamentals (take a look back at the big oversold...

Noob needs experienced traders to comment on my recent successes

Great results so far but small sample size. Keep on going for many months so you get exposure to many different kinds of market conditions. It sounds like you've learned how to make a lot of money on your good days so focus on limiting your losses on the losing days you have. Once you've...

Looking for a "Historical Snapshot" stock screener

There's a program called StockVision Market Replay which lets you run screens on any past day in the last year or so (and you can specify the exact time each day too). It's not free but the program doesn't cost much and is a great deal in my opinion.

    Should I invest this?

Probably not. Things were easier for many trading styles back in 2008-2009 vs. the last couple of years and it looks like he's still trying to figure out how to adapt to the current kind of market.

Should I cut position size on Monday?

Maybe you should just stay the course until the market provides more confirmation of a shift.

If break rules and earn profit?

If you make money violating your rules, consider some kind of penalty such as having to donate half the profit to a politician which you hate (e.g., Obama if you're Republican, Romney if Democrat).

    Stock Screener

You can pretty easily set up a scan for that using the program StockVision and backtest how different volatility & volume settings, etc. performed over the last 14 months (or more recently).

QuoteTracker To Be Finished End of 2011

I question TDA's business decision. Thinkorswim is pretty similar to other brokers' software (except perhaps even more cumbersome) but with Quotetracker they have a lean powerful trading platform that is a lot more unique. More active traders would use it if they promoted it better.

Is it illegal to post short calls on my blog?

Under U.S. law, it can make things easier if you don't receive compensation for what you post.

    Real Time Screener

StockVision is another good one if you like trading stocks that trade at least 400,000 shares a day or so.

Full-time Pro Scalpers: Steps for learning the profession? (feedback needed pls))

Maybe spend 12 months paper trading your scalping strategies. It's important to get very comfortable with the various types of algorithms (if you aren't already). You might also want to consider a hybrid approach where you're entering trades around levels where the stock might actually run a...

Best way to find stocks trading with high volatility?

StockVision allows you to run very customized scans for volatility.

    QT charts question

TD Ameritrade should really consider continuing to support Quotetracker and enhance it. There is a definite segment of traders who are turned off by software like Thinkorswim and just choose to use another broker. Many potential clients would be attracted to Quotetracker if it is properly...

difference between hedge fund and mutual fund?

"Hedge fund" isn't a technical legal term but is basically just a loose umbrella term for private pooled investment vehicles that don't need to be registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940. Often "hedge funds" are engaged in a continuous raising of capital, require a large minimum...

How's Tim Sykes making more money selling alerts than trading?

The last I saw (about a year ago), he had accounts with Thinkorswim, Sogotrade, and InteractiveBrokers. He liked using E-trade Pro for charting. Search his blog posts for that stuff.

    Biggest ECN rebate

ARCA is pretty popular among experienced traders for adding liquidity to get the best fills. If you don't trade a lot of size then that small difference in rebates might not be too big of a deal if you find yourself getting better fills. Might depend on what kinds of stocks you usually trade though.

    VectorVest . . . anyone?

Thanks for the interesting link stockjockk. I think people are probably better off with their own customized stock screens via a program like StockVision instead of something like VectorVest where you have less control and it's easy to under-perform buy & hold.
