    Feedback on Multicharts and/or DecisionBar???

From the front page of the DecisionBar web site: In a "matter of hours" no less. How can you take this stuff seriously ?

    Linux / Online Trading

InteractiveBrokers TWS runs very reliably on Linux. http://www.prorealtime.com/en/ is a commercial Java charting package. I havn't tried it, but it should run on Linux. https://humaitrader.dev.java.net/ is an open source Java charting package. There are a number of open source...

    Sugar Cane Fuel Production...

Isn't it true that sugar cane needs quite large application of nitrogen fertilizer ? These days, thats probably urea, replacing ammonium nitrate which can be used for making bombs. Urea is made from ammonia which is made from natural gas. So is there a net reduction in fossil fuel consumption...

anyone recommend a dualhead PCI/AGP card?

Problem certainly sounds similiar. NVS280 can do 1280x1024 on both heads. I havn't used NVS200, but it will probably do the job. I think the Y cable may be different on NVS280/NVS200 but it's hard to find info on older cards on Nvidia web site. You might like to try the Matrox support forums...

anyone recommend a dualhead PCI/AGP card?

Per monitor, I think. There should be enough memory to support this. But VGA only. Max DVI is 1600x1200.

anyone recommend a dualhead PCI/AGP card?

Can't say for sure about the G200MMS and your motherboard. Do you know what chipset it uses ? I have a couple of G200MMS (with TV tuner). I have never been able to get them fully working under Linux, although they are 'supported' (if you could call Matrox abysmal attention to Linux drivers...

    Writing a GUI in C# part 2

Have you used it ? I had a look at their support message board, and there seems to be some issues with historical data. As it is a new service, such things are to be expected, but it would be nice to know how robust it is at this stage.

anyone recommend a dualhead PCI/AGP card?

Nvidia NVS 280. Comes in PCI, AGP, PCI-E variants. Dual DVI/VGA. Low power, fanless and therefore quiet and potentially more reliable. The right type of 2D workstation card for charting. Cheap on eBay, but make sure you get the Y cable.

    Scalping_My Way with ACV

Very good thread. I have been looking at ACV on the following SIFs: ES, NQ, ER2, DAX, ESTX50, SGXNK, K200, SPI, HSI and they all exhibit the behavior discussed here. However, from an admittedly brief study, it does not seem to be present on Globex currency futures and in particular the...

    Writing a GUI in C# part 2

For DAX: secType = "FUT" // "STK" for a stock strike = empty string // Applies to options only right = empty string // Applies to options only multiplier = empty string // not needed primaryExchange = "DTB" currency = "EUR" expiry = "200606" id is a unique integer that...

IB TWS - SSL vs no SSL question

SSL is vastly more secure. Casual sniffing of encrypted network traffic is unlikely to turn up anything of any use to an attacker. I think it unlikely that it would have any significant impact on performance - especially at the PC end. Depending on the overall system load at the server end...

UK's Suicidal Politicians: State-funded Muslim school

What a load of complete nonsense. Think Diego Maradona regarded by many as the greatest footballer of all time or that 'wimp' Muhammad Ali. And no doubt many more that hardly fall into some conservative right wing camp.

    Tom DeMark sequential trading system

A couple of years ago I wrote a market screener for US stocks on EOD data. One of the many things I tried was the DeMark setup. I could find no edge at all and didn't see any reason to persue it any further.

    IB developers: are you idiots?

You are living in the past - about 6 or 7 years ago. Modern JVMs (1.4 and 1.5) from Sun, IBM, BEA and others are stable and continue to improve all the time.

What futures have decent volume 7 pm to 6 am EST?

IB is generally very reliable for both Asian and European markets. There is a server reset where it is off the air for a couple of minutes at most, once a day.

respect for freedom in jolly old england

That Clause 4 is Blair's New Labour Clause 4, which superceded the old Clause 4 dating from 1918 which called for 'socialising the means of production'. New Labour could at most be called mildly Social Democratic. The current clause 4 is little more than waffle. The word 'socialist' is only...

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

This same problem has recurred with the 858 release. The Unix download marked as 858, isn't. It is 857. And now the 857 release will not startup on Linux. Again , the only way to get started is to use the java web start - this time for 858. Please keep the Unix releases in step with the Windows...

respect for freedom in jolly old england

Far left ? You have got to be joking. And what is a 'quasi socialist' anyway ? Where do you get this stuff from. Blair is hardly any different from some of the neocon nut cases in Washington in terms of foreign policy and has just the same authoritarian inclinations in domestic policy. He...
