My 1st Real $ Calendar Spreads: smart? dumb? opinions?...

Just saw this... Ignoring dividends, cost of carry, early exercise etc. they are the same. When you roll you are buying back your short front month and selling a back month option i.e you are selling a calendar spread. Whether your short option is ITM when you roll makes no difference...

java using 200 MB of memory with only tws

That sounds high. Without charts should be < 50MB Perhaps worth checking which version of Java you are running and update it if necessary. MoMoney.

    Wunder J $1,000,000.00 in 30 days

LMAO. At least someone realized this should be in chit chat rather than journals. LOL@Romik...keep up the parody! The earnest advice and wisdom folks are sharing with you makes for some delightful yet cringeworthy entertainment. You never know, you might even make some $$ :D

    The most popular IB front-end

Booktrader was a disaster waiting to happen last time I used it, especially the drag/drop functionality LOL. I'm sure a few more iterations will make it more usable and robust. In the mean time there is Buttontrader.... MoMoney.

Might be some confusion over diagonalized Christmas Tree/Ladders vs. quadruple diagonals et al. Christmas trees are frontspreads. Diagonalized Christmas trees just have the short options in a back month to increase the vega sensitivity. The long Christmas tree would be the more common...

    The Volente/Thorn Debate

LMAO. I'll give you three guesses what the results of your poll will reveal.

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

Yes it is legal. It is not a JBO though AFAIK, therefore you are not joining a JBO or an exchange -> no market maker haircut. No Series 7 required. They offer leverage and capital instead, hence the name. The ToS front end is not the same as the one for retail clients, though it is similar in...

My 1st Real $ Calendar Spreads: smart? dumb? opinions?...

    1) PUT calendars and CALL calendars at the same strike are for most intents and purposes synthetically equivalent. Therefore, buying a PUT calendar and CALL calendar at same strike is the same as just buying 2 PUT calendars or 2 CALL calendars. 2) Calendars are LONG VEGA as they are usually...

I was referring to double diagonals for neutral markets rather than single diagonals which are admittedly different beasts. You will find much higher ROI potential embedded in diagonals vs credit spreads but don't take my word for it. The rolling is just one of the many ways discussed on ET...

Multiple rolls: when there is more than one month between front and back month e.g. aug/oct gives you two roll opportunities. Obviously the further out the back month the greater the initial debit - but you have to balance that against estimated multiple roll credits to evaluate...

FWIW, the bulk of profits in diagonals outside of favorable volatiltiy activity is locked up in the (multiple) rolls which is why it's important to understand calendar's (roll value) e.g. when it's best to roll and to estimate likely yields etc. 2 cents.

DTniq, is it comparable to Esignal? Better, worse, same

Fortunately, no Tonic-Clonics for me but I wonder what the effects would be watching those charts whizzing by whilst on mushrooms? LOL :D

DTniq, is it comparable to Esignal? Better, worse, same

They both have their own implementations. MarketDelta have their FootPrint charts. Investor/RT have their Volume Profile charts. They are basically separate implementations of the same concept with a few variations. As pointed out by 5Pillars and as per this notice, Linnsoft (Investor/RT) and...

    VisionTrader - version 588

Well free does not necessarily imply no registration. On the other hand, agree there is no point promoting some free software when it doesn't appear to work in a straightforward manner for users who are not already E-Signal subscribers. Seems to be some issues with username/password...
