Strangle should be called a Straddle and visa versa.

a straddle "straddles" the strike. is english not your first language? the picture you picked isn't what straddling means in the general sense.

Have you bought an OTM option for the home run?

I'd imagine nearly every amateur/self-funded option trader has, or at least that's what I tell myself at night

calculating net returns, what do you use

realism is not the same as pessimism. those that make exorbitant returns are outliers (thanks to talent, luck, or a combination thereof). most of the traders on here realize consistency is more important than big cool numbers and fight for edges where they can find "small," consistent returns...

    BABA iron condor

Sounds like you're good to go then. I was trading them on much shorter time frames (1 month and closer) and got chopped to bits, hopefully you'll have better luck on a longer time horizon. Tone doesn't come across well on the internet but I hope it works out for you because I'm interested in...

    BABA iron condor

I traded ICs on BABA for a couple months, and yeah, it is possible for that stock to move 20% in 3 months. the options are expensive for a reason...if you're right/lucky you can make good money on trades like these but my outcomes were so inconsistent that I backed away keep us posted either way

Trading future options vs Trading futures

I'm a little late to the party, but when you trade options you're trading volatility (or taking a stance on volatility) whether you want to or not. The only exception would maybe be extremely DITM options with a delta approaching +/- 1. Buying a near ITM/ATM/OTM call is trading volatility...

Back spreads the Greeks and Nicholas Taleb

one of the many reasons I wish I could find a trading platform that shows higher order greeks. i'm lucky ToS shows delta/gamma/vega/theta/rho in an easy way. Not sure I'd be able to do much with the information but I've always wanted to watch the higher order greeks and how they move instead of...

How to identify a CALL/PUT SWEEPER on ThinkOrSwim

i don't think ToS has a specific sweeper search but there's plenty of (free) services on twitter that spit em out throughout the day.

how to hedge a open a short

before getting to the question: if you're selling puts on a future and don't know what delta hedging is, I'd strongly suggest you move to a smaller product and/or take a break from trading and start doing a lot of reading. Selling puts has been like printing money for a while now, but the risks...

Is selling options before earning Good Strategy?

I got to take a bunch of financial engineering courses while the "real" engineers were sitting in lab all day, that counts for something right? ...right?

    GOOG Iron Condor

It's a sure thing unless it isn't, then? It hasn't snowed at my house in 9 months, so I guess it won't happen again in the next 30 days, right? Stochastic processes like price action in financial markets don't work like they do in your weird deluded fantasy land. Then why are you here? To...

Iron Condor - Credit received vs. Profit in Analyse chart

this is the correct answer. on the analyze tab where it says "ALL" you can click the dropdown and have it hide current positions or simulations. You're showing a simulated $0.07 IC (you can tell from the red background, positions are black background) on top of an "executed" identical $0.07 IC...

Is selling options before earning Good Strategy?

I have an engineering degree (industrial though, not aero) and trade options so I think I'm particularly qualified to say this: you're being an ass. Dude runs an education service and you've made your point in several mini-rants. If you don't like it, don't buy it. You've fulfilled your probono...

Is selling options before earning Good Strategy?

I'm not defending anyone here and am not a client but I don't see how a lack of academic interest in a very specific trading strategy matters. Write your own white paper on it if you're so interested. Most options related papers are related to vol modeling and market structure, not something...
