I am not a quant but i believe TA is a scam. nobody making good money using ta makes money from the ta, it´s the person (or quant) behind it

it's a term meant to differentiate between derivatives and the actual market. let's say the s&p 500 future is the derivative, and the actual 500 stocks are the "cash"

i think those people rely on investing, not trading. edit, or on interest rate differences or similar edges.

you also have to take into account, that if you start the random walk walk of a virtual stock's price at, say, 50 points. you'll have to call it quits when price reaches 0, you can't go on and on under 0. same with the martinggale strategy, if you have unlimited money, you'll never lose, but...

yes you can chart prem. i don't see any 7 or 8 points, unless you give the forecasts a few minutes leeway in hindsight.

prem is difference cash and future. what's so special about the results of the forecast?

enjoyable indeed. a problem i have with this theory is that it's tested on a ranging set of (random) data. i believe if you would test it on truly random data, which is not ranging, you would still go back to 0% profitability. or am i wrong?

money management: suppose the market is random, you will always end up around 0% roi, whatever system you might use. add to that risk of ruin.

the nyse is going down! why would anyone would prefer to send their orders to NYSE's awkward ecn when you can just hit island or arca. only thing that gave nyse their power was the trade through rule and that one is going to dissapear.

my guess is, it is due to delayed data. iow, what you see is not what you get. during bursts of high volume, there is often delay.

to jaronimo, yes, only way to change people's bad behaviour is to put on price on it. for instance 300% tax on gasoline would help. to the OP, i disagree totally, world is as it is, change it (*edit: hardly* not possible by singly person, unless maybe you are the president), or accept it.
