Tackling NOISE: The Key to ATS success

pyramiding, you mean average up or average down? if you do just random entries you win in noisy markets and you lose in trends so isn´t that 50 / 50?

    future prop strategies

hi there! I am wondering about the future of the regular prop trader´s strategies. employed as at Bright, SwiftTrade or any of the bigger ones. The price improvement on the NYSE is going to dissapear, same with opening only orders by the specialist, the trading for rebates is getting more...

Odd-lot order placement eliminated by IB!!! Please take the poll!

I´d say they make a distinction between offering most professional services for round lots, and still offer odd lots without the bells and whistles (maybe just handled by timber)

My goal is 15% a year... so what strategy?

yes, but when the market is not range bound flat or dropping, then you will cap your winners and still not beat the long term marketavg. which is 7% per year or so? so basically selling covered calls is predicting when the market will be range bound/flat or dropping, and covering your calls...

My goal is 15% a year... so what strategy?

jack hershey: i see spydertrader´s equitycurve was +100% in a year, i don´t know if he followed exactly what you mentioned before here, or there is some secret sauce added, which i am not going to find out, i am more busy with my own research. in the first case i´d be stumped hehe

My goal is 15% a year... so what strategy?

what does selling covered calls make a better strategy for someone striving for 15% than buy and hold? i don´t really see the difference

    nasdaq rebates on nyse!

of course per 1000 shares hehe

    nasdaq rebates on nyse!

you heard it here first, nasdaq will unify their pricing for all markets to $2 for adding, and $3 for taking liquidity per share! i always thought so, nyse is dead and listed stocks are gonna trade exactly the same as otc!

My goal is 15% a year... so what strategy?

could you give me a backtest on that please? *stumped* edit, most serious professional traders i know actually make 100% or more per year on small accounts, so it´s not that i have a small vision, it just ain´t as easy as mr hershey seems to believe

My goal is 15% a year... so what strategy?

i congratulate you with your success, i truly do. and i agree it´s easier make 15% with 100k than it is for a hedgefund. my suggestion stays the same. an addition would be that i don´t think it would be that much easier to do with buying stranglesstraddles on the q´s than with...

My goal is 15% a year... so what strategy?

you said "doing some strangles or straddles on the Qs" and when somebody asked buying or selling, you say, i prefer buying. and you don´t need any advanced analysis or something. how does this advice differ from somebody saying, wanna make 15% a year, buy some msft (or pork bellies or ...)...
