    Taking the Plunge

sneakoner.. was that a joke? S&P is i dont remember either 5 or 10times bigger than ES. Maybe you mean spiders. Thats more palatable. And as far as platform/broker for ES goes; i was and still am with TOS but i end up using my Mirus/NT and Velocity/Sierra accounts much more than tos account...

    Biggest ECN rebate

Mostly trade ETFs. Currently trading SPY, IWM, EEM, FXI and a couple others. So you think ARCA is better from fills perspective? and my size is really small; just 100 or 200 shares at a time - so maybe it doesnt matter whether its ARCA or BATS. Going for max rebate for that reason. -gariki

    Biggest ECN rebate

yes; BATS is a tad better than EDGX. Have been getting those for the past couple of days and am loving it. One thing though i am not sure is which exchange is the best if i were to optimize both Rebate and Fills together. I dont think there is any quantitative information about that but would...

Homeschooling produces Higher test scores. Traditional education is a scam.

Yes; Obama getting the Nobel must be the lowest it has gotten; thats for sure. Makes you think that maybe the rest of the awards are also not really going to the most worthy folks.. but just by chance or luck or whatever. But Obama getting it definitely has a certain comic element to it...

Best place to purchase historical stock data for backtesting??

I have done a bit of testing using their data. Cant quantify but the data quality looks good to me. Over the time i have data from IQFeed, my system results match across iqfeed and pitrading. So worked for me. -gariki

Best place to purchase historical stock data for backtesting??

+1 for Pitrading. i have bought their data in the past and am pretty happy with it. Another option is to subscribe to IQFeed; you get about 5 years worth of 1min backfills for about 100bucks. Then you can disconnect service. -garilo

LLC Operating Agreement for Investment / Trading company

hey dude.. my quesion is not whether what advantages you have but what advantages you have that you dont get via the trader status. You have answered why you did not choose that way; thats fair.. but your "cant you read" just confirms that you obviously cant. Hmm.. so if you are a full time...

    Future account with 5k...which brokers?

Hey man, not sure what prompted you to give the sermon but all the original poster asked was a recommendation for a broker. Yes; and what you write is mostly correct. Dont see how it could help someone who is interested in the market to learn. Stop pursuing the interest and get a regular...

    Future account with 5k...which brokers?

+1. I have accounts with both of these firms and also at TOS. Both of them (Mirus and Velocity) are good. I like my velocity account a bit better because i like their account management a bit more; and i seem to get slightly better fills than i do on Ninja with Mirus. But both of them are...

Great Article on Prop firms- Bright, Echo, Maverick Trading, SMB, etc.

Just my opinion; but i dont think you should be going prop unless you know you have an edge (preferably demonstrable using real trades over a substantial amount of trades; just backtesting wont cut either). Now if you expect someone to teach you to trade at a prop firm and teach you to make...

    FX vs Futures

last time i checked (about 4months ago) even with the forex brokers offering the tightest spreads, spreads are horrible compared to futures. Do your own homework; but i am not revisiting that for the next couple of years. Sticking with futures for now.. heck i am infact expanding into stock...

What are some good educational resources for a beginner?

And for this, you dont trade full time to start with. You do this as a side obsession while your bread and butter comes from whatever else it is you already do. Markets might give you money; they might take it away. So until you are consistently (2 or more years) making more dough here than your...

What are some good educational resources for a beginner?

absolutely. I will add a bit more; without a strategy to the underlying you have no business putting on option positions. Even the so called market neutral ones; if you dont have a positive expentancy for the time frame you are shooting with the underlying (in this case the system being...

What are some good educational resources for a beginner?

The one and the only place you need to go to learn options is thinkorswim; go the old chat archives and start from the old ones. The first couple of years are good. Then there is nothing new.. you get it; or you dont :)...

    Lightspeed vs. Sterling Discuss

this thread was an year old; so thought i would re-activate it and see if there is any input about Lightspeed vs Sterling. I will be trading a basket of 6 etfs; all liquid (SPY, QQQ, IWM, FXI and a couple others); intraday with an ave. holding period of about 35mins. I have tried (demo'ed)...

    Adding liquidity question..

So here is what my understanding is about adding liquidity. Say SPY is trading at 100.00-100.01 (Bid-Ask); i put in a limit order to buy/cover 100 shares at 100.00 or sell/short at 100.01 - in both cases my order sits on the order book until someone takes it out. So i am adding liquidity...

To become a better trader: Passionate vs Making Money

I believe its not possible to make money without that passion. But even otherwise, it wouldnt be called gambling. Applying an edge and making money - anywhere - would be called business. -gariki
