IB: Alert for action when program is closed

TWS allows server-based alerts that could send you an email when a price condition is met, when an order executes, or when account cushion falls below certain threshold: please use View -> Alerts menu item in the main TWS window to open the alerts window.

Hi Lucrum! I have contacted you back in March regarding OCO exit order problem, and you promised to send me an example of OCO order not working properly. I will gladly investigate any case of OCO order not working properly, please email me date/time/contract and description of what was not...

Identifying when IB is your counterparty

No, it does not. TWS shows executing exchange as SMART if the order was routed to a non-IB dark pool whose name IB does not or can not disclose. DAV is correct, IDEAL means counterparty is definitely not IB/TH:

    IB Limit If Touched Orders

This is not the case, trading thru the trigger price would also trigger the order. If you have any examples to the contrary, please open an issue with our tech support. Thanks!

    IB Forex question

This is not the case: liquidations take place on IDEALPRO, if the quantity is sufficiently big to be eligible for IDEALPRO.

    ISLAND vs SUPERSOES on IB

The main reason is backward compatibility: if we removed it immediately, ticker lines would disappear off people's TWS pages and they would need to reenter symbols. We will remove it in one of the upcoming versions of TWS

    ISLAND vs SUPERSOES on IB

There's no difference between ISLAND and SUPERSOES any more: all orders routed to SUPERSOES are redirected to ISLAND.

What problems are you having with latest TWS?

Update: 1) we've identified an issue in TWS 871 where it mistakenly alerts the user to the "HMDS disconnect" when one has a line chart that is kept up-to-date. Since the line charts are not using the backend 5-second bars, the disconnect is done because the connection is not used, and does...

    IB - data generation process

That is correct. It will adjust high/low, plus provide accurate 5-second volume and VWAP price. It works for all bar sizes: e.g. 1-minute bar is obtained by adding up 12 5-second bars. The chart refreshes every 5 seconds, when the new bar is calculated and sent by the servers. The...

What problems are you having with latest TWS?

My comment was about multiple TWS copies for a single user. Each TWS instance running on a machine can accept many API clients (Excel or others), as long those API clients use distinct clientIDs. Hope this clarifies it, thanks.

What problems are you having with latest TWS?

This setup works as long as those two or more copies of TWS log into different sessions (use different usernames). Each username can only be used by one TWS or one WebTrader session at any given time. I am not in the position to answer your other question, but I will relay it to the...

why do people complain about IB TWS crashing so much?

We have found that a certain piece of load-balancing hardware that distributes the incoming TWS connections over a pool of servers was misconfigured, and was dropping connections when TWS would get busier and less responsive. The hardware has been reconfigured as of Monday Apr 30th, and we...

We have identified a potential problem with old versions of TWS which do not handle the new backend-supplied 5-second bars correctly. Thus we are forced to turn off the backend support for all versions of TWS except the current browser beta TWS (871). If you are running TWS 870 or earlier...

I believe TWS 866 does not have the feature: I think it was added in 867 or 868. The latest standalone version available is 870, you can download it from here: http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/control/twscontrol.php?ib_entity=llc. Alternatively you can try this in the browser version.
