    How Was Earnings Season?

Sure there are different numbers being thrown around. No different than GAAP or pro-forma. Zacks does state clearly that net-income growth was horrible (right on the header). However, adding in share repurchases, etc.. the absolute median numbers were double digit. Here's more metrics...

    How Was Earnings Season?

http://www.zacks.com/newsroom/commentary/?id=6302 Double digit YOY numbers surpassed all the lowball estimates so far. Gives them more room to spin surprise results for end of year rally IMO. As I mentioned on an earlier thread, if energy should pull back (which it has), someone needs to...

thank god for the Pattern Daytrade Rule

Very good point. Sorry, we can't let you through the doors unless you can swipe your cash card and verify you have 25,000 to gamble. Sorry, it's the law to protect the under capitalized. Sorry, you can't buy those lottery tickets unless you have a 10,000 cash card, we just want to make sure...

Oct S&P Open interest "bubble" @1525

I'll be the first to say, I didn't expect that gigantic squeeze all day into the close. That being said, I wish I would have paid more attention to OE today. This is beginning to look a lot like the OE squeeze on the last tank in late july/august? meltdown. Whether the OE gravitational pull...

    Book Exchange

Mastering the trade is one of the best trading books i've ever read btw. If you ever want to understand how markets work and why traders lose over and over again, the opening few chapters are outstanding. I read the opening few chs over and over, for inspiration and reminders of what not...

    Todays Rally 11/13/07

Personally, I'm looking at a nice big gap filler before the day's over, IMO.

    BIDZ raises guidence-after the close

one of the few low liquidity stocks that has survived the scathing. Fundamentals/TA all look good so far. Although, it takes a lot of fortitude to buy a low float stock in this volatile environment. If/when market does return, wouldn't doubt seeing a huge pop on this. Good Luck.

market nose dives into the close----

Some sentiment indicators are still stubbornly bullish. Four horsemen (and baidu) finally got taken to the woodshed. There sure was a lot of bear blood taken on the way up though.

Appl has reached near the bottom..

Not that I'm endorsing either OPs (since neither generally backs up any comments with any research), but as far as bubbles go, historically speaking, if this is a 98 style correction (which I'm still weakly holding on to the thesis, at least for nasdaq), there is still conceivable room to run...

    rally into the close?

Gotta love the psychology here. Yesterday, they run S&P up in super squeeze fashion to annihilate shorts. Today they gap it down and the whole climb up, longs were chanting that internal mantra that was so freshly burned into their minds (remember... PPT will ramp it up into close... PPT...

Gotta respect those support lines. Still think looking back in a month or two, this will have bounced at some point. Doesn't really matter though, once my thesis was violated and diag support was broken, it was all about exit stage left. I don't argue with it -- plan didn't work out =...

Yes, It's a falling knife, but I get the sneaky suspicion institutions are loading up here. Tick just fell off a cliff (major index puke pt). Bounce opp? They can easily spin yesterday's numbers with some upgrades when the carnage is done. JMHO

    S&p Gap Profile

No way to tell for certain, but here's some statistics on overnight gaps. Fortunately, they are not that bad compared to intraday losses; meaning there is hope that you'll be able to cut losses before it gets too bad. By the way -- the positive gap tails are more extreme, historically. <img...

    S&p Gap Profile

Still waiting for the data: day o-h-l-cl (gap days in august > +/- 0.5%? S&P 500) Unless yahoo data is foobar, I don't see any problems. Anyone have a gap daily data pre september, with greater than .5% to verify? This is pretty significant in terms of major turning points.

    S&p Gap Profile

detective, I was using yahoo finance data. I'll double check it. But can you provide me at least one or two days of o-h-l-cl data exceeding .5% that are in the time frame you are referring to and your data source so I can compare? Thanks.

    S&p Gap Profile

Not sure how many traders look at this, but the gap activity has become very (unusually) volatile since September. If you are wondering why you are getting chopped both ways lately, this is a good reason that's pretty much out of your control (outside of short term scalping). One reason I've...
