    Contrarian

Question for those who have been trading for awhile. Right now every macro evaluation of the market and economy is weak at best: economic indicators are down, corporations are capital-starved, consumer debt is at a new high, worldcom/enron, earnings are bleak, retirements are depleted, etc...

    Mistakes

Interesting theory. But that would have to be one stupid foreign investor: wait until the mkt hits a 6 year low and then sell your entire U.S. portfolio. Maybe with the war about to happen, it's someone who's worried about his assets getting frozen.

Yeah, even Letterman couldn't sell that many assets in one day!

Or maybe it wasn't an error. Maybe somebody wasn't happy about losing their job or with their boss and decided to slip a few digits. I do find it a little hard to believe you could spaz out and accidently add three zeros to your order. Or if it was a mistake, I would have liked to have been...

Okay, I suddenly feel better about any trading mistakes I might have ever done. How about this one? The Motley Fool Take on Thursday, October 3, 2002 Goldman Sacks Investors Perhaps, right after the Series 7 license, Bear Stearns should add Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing to its...

    Books - Spiritual Flavor

Here's another line of thinking. I have seen traders on this board carefully micro-analyze the the claims of anyone with a miraculous trading system. I believe that it is okay to do the same with religious systems as well. And, if this super-Cray in our skulls is actually fashioned by Design...

Tech, Yeah, I've never heard anything but good things about hardrightedge, although I haven't joined. Mike Swanson - I remember that name. He came on the board a while back and did a lot of "subtle" advertising. And he claimed to be making stellar returns (w/o margin I believe) - 800% in...

    Swing sites

There was a similar thread a while back, but it didn't get much response. Anybody have any swing sites that they'd recommend (besides hardrighedge and daytradingstocks)? (I'm much more interested in education than stock picks.)

    Why don't more women trade?

Yeah, we can play video games. But let's face it - most women are social and relational analytic geniuses. The analyze the most complex of all mechanisms - human relations and interactions - with quick ease and insight. They got us beat I tell you. I don't understand why they don't rule the...

    Why don't more women trade?

I've worked with women in IT, engineering and actuarial departments. They are almost always the better employees because they are detail oriented but rarely have the self-confidence that should come with it. Guys learn by blowing out their account or losing big - you know Pavlov and all. Now...

    Why don't more women trade?

They don't know what they're missing! Or do they? Are we all just pawns?

    Why don't more women trade?

We see ourselves as little financial Einsteins absorbing streams of number, charts and data and churning out big dollars. Females see little, pathetic chimps that have trained themselves to stare into a computer screen for 10 hours a day. Who's smarter?

Article says Cash Account can be qualifed as daytrader

I understand what you're saying. I'm just saying that someone ought to figure out a way to settle in less than 3 days. 3 days, 3 years, 3 billion years - it's all the same to a trader.

Article says Cash Account can be qualifed as daytrader

And, yes, I know it's not IB's fault. I think they are just doing out of their interpretation of the regulations. (But I can tell you that Ameritrade let me instantly trade in my cash account w/o waiting for the 3-day settlement.)

Article says Cash Account can be qualifed as daytrader

I just contacted IB out this and was told that I would have to convert my cash account to a margin account and then I could avoid the 3 day settlement rule. The 3 day settlement rule is a killer for me because I sometimes hold just a night or two for a small profit. Imagine if I make a...

    Pda

I only do a trade or two a day. Plus, I have difficulty monitoring things on my work PC. I want to set up little vb jobs that would run on a regular basis and monitor vol and price for certain target stocks that I'd screened the night before. I can't really do that on my work PC as I work in...
