I've looked into this before and what has always concerned me is that the more bars you've had a trend, the higher the probability for a retracement. So can you give any tips as to how to make this a consistently profitable method? (I'm EOD only.)

Are you talking OHB? A few questions for you: how do you protect yourself from buying right at a mkt turn? are you looking for volume cuzz volume seems to have less relevance with the ETFs, don't you think? Are you watching any of the major indexes while you're doing this? What I'm getting...

    Trading Vendor Nightmare -- tetradynamics

I can tell you're on a mission and I wish you the best. But I think you'll find that a lot of posters at ET will give you a hard time for paying anything to learn to trade much less $6500. About the most anyone spends on here is $100 for a good trading book. (If you're new, come back here and...

    IB disconnected many times

A couple of weeks ago I kept getting dropped and reconnected. (Probably every 3-10 sec.!) I called IB Help and to make a long story short it was Cox. I called Cox and gave them the router information that the Help Desk gave me and the problem went away. Haven't had any trouble since.

What is everyone scared of? Thanks but we don't need you to protect us. Let him put some ideas out there, then let each individual decide if they're any good by backtesting, looking at charts, evaluating past experience. Even a bad idea slightly modified can lead to a good system. This board...

    Is the party over ?

Earnings have been good. The Hussein sons are gone. There are many signs that we're cycling naturally out of the recession. Yet the indexes can't break out and have no follow through. There's just no institutional big buyers. It won't be long before they take us on a ride one way or the...

I hate to say it but you can thank the Hussein's for most successes today. :)

    Bear ETF

Thx - I just called IB and found out just what you were talking about. SSF's are available (go figure!) in an IRA. I don't think I'd go that route with an IRA myself, but it's interesting how the SEC in all its wisdom allows SSF's in an IRA, yet you can't short...

    Bear ETF

Are you with IB by any chance? I didn't think I could do anything outside of typical purchases - I'll have to ask if I can do what you mentioned.

    Bear ETF

I'm asking because of my IRA acount, which by regs can't have shorts, futures, etc. (which is a good thing). Furthermore, it's with IB which doesn't have mutual funds.

    Bear ETF

I know there's a Rydex Bear mutual fund, right? Is there an equivalent ETF or CEF? I'm looking for something that I think doesn't exist: an ETF or CEF that is an inverse of one of the indexes.

Your comments on the British Open?

My head knows you're right, but there's such a rush when you lash a drive...I don't know if I'll ever be able to help myself. I know that when I go out after not playing for a month, I should go first to the putting green before the driving range. It is a mini-rush when you stick a green, but...

And it's nice to see a little media time go to someone besides Tiger. As good as he was, for awhile I thought I was going to puke if I saw one more Tiger sound bite.

Trading while trying to lose weight on Atkins

If you want proven diets (at least as much as any diet can be proven), then imho you should consider the Meditteranean or Okinawan diets. These both have excellent cultural track records. Atkins is an easy way to lose weight quickly but it has no long term track record, so it's a definite dice...

Your comments on the British Open?

You have to keep Tiger's losses in historical perspective as well. Jack Nicklaus at one time in his career went through 12 majors before he won a major. And of course then he won a slew of them. Now that's the kind of competitiveness that I admire - someone who could have so easily given up...

    HITK: Private Placement??

No prob. Sometimes I think some of you guys are kind of "godlike" and know everything. But, oh yeah, that's Mr. Market - I forgot.

    HITK: Private Placement??

Sorry - wasn't trying to get out of research, but the SEC/press release wording was at first confusing to me. It says: "On July 17, 2003, Hi-Tech Pharmacal Co., Inc. announced that it entered into a definitive purchase agreement with certain accredited investors with respect to the private...

Your comments on the British Open?

David Duval - injuries got him. He's had back and shoulder problems and I'm sure it doesn't take much to slow you down from a premier player to just-another-PGA guy. He showed a "champion's attitude" by not blaming his problems on injuries, but that sounds like the #1 problem. Of course, I...

    HITK: Private Placement??

Interesting. So in some ways they were able to use the recent run-up to raise larger amounts of capital to hopefully replace a moribund revenue stream. NASDAQ pharmaceuticals are not for the weak! So do you know if this came out of their treasury stock or whatever you call it? Or did they...

    HITK: Private Placement??

Pretty amazing. So obviously there was fundamental weakness. Interesting that this happened at the same time that PPDI melted down! I think I've got a good play tomorrow based on that. So you're saying that essentially it was just that some of the big boys wanted out and not that they...
