    Peer-to-Peer

Gotcha. But I thought in p-2-p you could not really tell the source since one IP was mapped to another IP which was mapped to another IP kind of like a spider web and sometime serially. How do they know the IP on their internet connection is really the "offending" IP?

Are you suggesting this is the "solution"?

    Peer-to-Peer

But that's my question: how do they even know it's an mp3 that's flying around some internet trunk? Where are they sniffing? It can't be on an internet pipeline - only our beloved govt can do that. And surely ISP's aren't letting them sniff unless the RIAA is paying them off...

    Peer-to-Peer

I am puzzled by the ability of the RIAA to even find out who is using the various file sharing networks such as Kazaa. I thought the whole point of peer-to-peer was to keep all information off of a central server or servers. How does the RIAA even find out who is downloading what? (Plus, I...

I was just reading an online article how this API/DOE report day can be very "irrational". (It was specifically about 5/21/03.) Was their any solid justification for this ramp up or is just a day to beware because it breeds a feeding frenzy? To a newbie, it looks as if everyone involved...

Also, I clicked on GG's link and my browser couldn't open it. I don't know whether it was Amazon or what. But can someone put down the title/author?

    Speed of Light

Thanks for the posts guys. I never dreamed one simple question could get this much good stuff, although a lot of it blows my mind. The mind as a hologram is fascinating. I remember some years back reading a book by Penrose (one of the co-discovers with Hawking of the "Space/Time Theory of...

    Speed of Light

Interesting. I'll grab a copy. That article brings up something else I have wondered: in classic inflationary big bang theory, does the universe initially expand at a speed > c? From reading about it, I got the impression that it did or almost that they were not certain how it expanded so...

    Speed of Light

Just read an interesting Discovery article that said scientists are baffled by high energy particles that are smashing (very infrequently) into the atmosphere and creating particle cascades. They even speculate that the source might be strings. Anyway, they said a number of scientists are...

I've noticed and greatly appreciated the quick phone response time. Every time I have called lately someone has answered within a one or two rings!

    IB does it again

Generally speaking, when I have had a slow fill with IB it has been with a relatively illiliquid stock or the stock was actually moving up and down and IB's system gave me the better price even though it hadn't yet showed up on TWS. Of course, in the first case I can't really blame IB and in...

    The Daniel_M Update

I was wondering what had happened to you. What the other guy said was very true: you have traded in one of the most brutal of trading periods. So I hope you'll keep that in mind. You may simply be a casuality of one of the most brutal trading environments in history. It can't stay like this...

Interesting theory. Intution (which is worth nothing) tells me this should be a slow moving, steady index. But in actuality it gets these huge supply/demand spikes that I can't figure out...

Does anyone know if there was any rational or even semi-logical reason why OIH rallied so strongly yesterday? I can't figure out what drives this index.

What happens if we find fossils on Mars?

I won't predict the markets, but here's what I predict they will find on Mars: radiation decayed DNA and cell fragments. The scientifically illiterate media will initially claim that life has been discovered on Mars. Then everyone will remember that astronomers have calculated that a percent...

coments on david landry trading style

Let me ask it another way: would you actually turn down a trade because of overly high or low volume (or vice versa)? Volume seems important in other situation but I haven't been able to make consistent sense of it here, that I've never found a strong correlation between volume and a bounce...

coments on david landry trading style

Sorry - I missed a previous post where you said you buy on a pull back. Can you share any ideas on what you're looking for TKO or pullback? i.e. a bounce, volume, etc.?
