... but is it doable in reality ?

My 3rd & last setup for this week, again a short trade in a currency pair, this time EUR vs JPY. I'd be short now at around 119,98 ; place the SL 70 pips above my fill and profittarget 210 pips below.

In the currency pair GBP vs CAD (GBPCAD on tradingview) I'm bearish, too. Would go short here @ 1.6993 with a Stop loss 100 pips above my fill, profit target 300 pips below my fill.

... but is it doable in reality ?

Right now, it's a clear shortsetup in the pair GBP vs USD according to my analysis. Currently trading @ 1.2536, I'd now go short, SL 60 pips above entry, profit target 150 pips below fill.

... but is it doable in reality ?

Yes, if you know the indicator's logic, one can guess e.g. when the crossover will take place. Of course, in the end we all bet on the future buyer / sellers' behaviour that is unknown. Speaking of the swap fees when trading currency pairs longer than one day, they can be of advantage aka act...

... but is it doable in reality ?

Yes, this I know. I'd not want to risk more than 1%, maybe only .5 % of my equity per trade. Knowing that trendfollowing has a low hit ratio, I'd expect around 60% of my trades to be losers ! But I want 2.5 to 3R trades - that's it. The 40% winners should on average take in 2.5 - 3.0 x my...

... but is it doable in reality ?

Yes, virtusa, without a doubt, also important is to stick to one timeframe and then trade the signals when they occur. 2 - 4 hours would be choice I believe, 12 - 24h leave too much on the table, see the DAX as of now. EUR / NZD I would not trade anymore. Reason ? A clear uptrend on H4, but as...

... but is it doable in reality ?

I don't have the capabilities to backtest, but virtusa does have a point . Thanks to all of you for the input. I actually might reduce it to two indicators - EMA34 crossing + DMI OR instead of "and" Aroon.

... but is it doable in reality ?

FX markets are closed now, but I post a short idea here - pair is € vs New Zealand dollar (EURNZD on tradingview). Would place the SL @ 1.76 but only go short if fill would be 1.7520 or below. Profit target ? 1.7200 . https://www.tradingview.com/x/qIksw0oG/

... but is it doable in reality ?

Thank you, Handle123, for the input. So far, the crossovers in the momentum indicator(s) (one may be actually enough) + EMA34 looked strong, but of course I'm open for further input ! This is the interview with Tom Basso I referred to, 76 minutes long ->

... but is it doable in reality ?

Guys and gals, this is one hell of a forum. I reside in Munich, Germany, and have too long not been active in this great forum. Back in 2006, I got a long-term investment idea via pm here - pre IPO "Invest in Mastercard, it is a company that profits from American's endless debt lust", the member...

Why do you bother with such crappy boilerroom operations? Join a bulge bracket firm, or if u don't have the credentials, flip burgers at McD.

    Market Code Crack'd?

Well, I read my Schwager wholeheartedly enough not to fall for any 99.99 , 999.99 or even 4,999.99 US$ systems. And never will. But those boards are invaluable. Do I understand you correctly - the method you initally introduced in this thread failed miserably? Or do you mean its predeccesor?

    Market Code Crack'd?

It's fantastic to witness this evolution. My suggestion - stick with the plan of putting half of your trading earnings or more aside, so that, should the everchanging nature of markets hit you on the wrong foot unexpectedly, no mini LTCM arises.

    Market Code Crack'd?

Oh, lucky you. And unlucky me - we've just lost 0:2 to those damn Azzuros (read: Italians), so no worldcup for Germany this year. Have you ever found value in a countertrend-strategy?

    Market Code Crack'd?

Somewhat weird, your line of reasoning. I'd rather have had 1,000 US$ invested with this plutocrat in 1970 than ever daytrade a single cent. But let's not turn this thread into Buffetology pro/contra.

    Market Code Crack'd?

No, it shouldn't. The Buffetts of this world are in a whole other galaxy than most of us, financially and maybe even intellectually. Still, becoming a self-made millionaire through trading is a feat that is absolutely respectable (and rare).

Please don't let this thread die out. Thanks to it, and your generous PMs, I am beginning to feel confident that trading might be viable for income support.
