WSJ Front Page Squawk Box Article

well, in my book, this is petty larceny. what the enron traders did, or what ATT did by slamming its customers, is something to scream about.

Why is the Futures market supposedly more difficult?

generally, the economics of valuation are different. the price of a stock isn't necessarily tied directly to the supply of anything. a company can grow and issue and grow and issue and grow and issue, etc. etc. a futures contract has an opposite on every trade and is tied directly to the...

Timber Hill lose 20-30% of revenues to insider trading

What I read said clearly that "we lose blah blah percent revenues to insider trading." How much clearer can it be? They need to go into the cheese business to go with all that whine.

    Buffet says Crude has peaked

don't know if that's a 5th up or not, but crude is definitely in panic-buy mode. from peak to puke would be cool.

of course technicals work -- technicals were around way before electronic markets, dude! But it's fundamental, too -- interest rate driven. Watch the spot and see how the index works with it.

    Buffet says Crude has peaked

the market says, there's been some heavy covering. but do the math. he's probably short from the top (or before), and all the way down. his average cost may very well still be higher.

    Experience trading $Index

well, that's pretty open ended, but I'll give it a shot. it's a good market. you already know that slippage may be greater. on the other hand, I've seen a thousand lots get traded at one shot on a limit. one thing about the index -- and it's true of the currency markets in general: a)...

    Experience trading $Index

dollar index in NY is where it's at. you'll get a fair fill. you'd be surprised at who trades there. it's a wider market than imm but it's a different instrument as well, serving a different purpose. building the index yourself will take the edge out of the futures for you -- execution...

    volatility for dummies

can someone lay some intro on me for measuring volatility (short time frames, if it matters)? or perhaps get me up to speed on the relevant points. it used to be the a 2 stdev's of an sample of prices, if I'm not very much mistaken...but that was a long time ago.

    Algorithmic Trading

"randomness" pretty much assures that you can make money trading, as things trend between the bounds. you just have to pick your timeframe, and make sure you slippage doesn't exceed volatility.
