It would help the bullish case and the bottom-picking crowd if marekt retests the low made on Friday (Ok, I also want it to go lower so that I can pick up 20 to 40 points profit). But, as always, time tells and I think the G7 meeting ended with a whimper rather than a resoundingly confident...

Cramer calls for Dow 7700 and SP 800

No one can pick the bottom but these levels are as good as you may get for a few years. Markets overshoot to the downside and multiday climactic selling signals an IT bottom. The financials are oversold and will be the biggest movers in any rally. And, bear in mind, the few banks remaining...

I like this trend of thought - there is a statistical element in trading and as you have pointed out there is the possibility of an upday after a long string of down days. And, the longer we continue to have down days the higher the probability of an up day, or two, or three.

The real issue is WHAT ARE THE FAIR VALUES OF STOCKS? In the final analysis, this determines the value of the indices. I don't doubt the markets will overshoot on the downside but the markets will resturn to fair value. In this volatile, emotional, and excitable environment...

Why will we break the lows? I am not bullish at this point but markets have put in some good bottoming action today. Not pretty but this could be the base for a good rally. Also, what bad news can we get again? Except for a few earnings surprises which most expect there may not be much...
