    New options trader needs help.

There are also ample resources online. I haven't checked in a while - CBOE has good educational resources, I think. A little research should do the trick. Keep in mind that if you are buying puts or for any option trade, you have the strike, expiry and position size to choose. You should...

    New options trader needs help.

I don't know which UK brokerage has the best deal - but selecting a broker is very important - you want to minimize costs and optimize fair routing and fills. I would urge you to get a book on options ASAP because the subject is quite complex. At least get a basic understanding about the...

    Bull Put Spread

No, it is not "safe" to put on the spread. It's not free money - you take on risk. Yes, you get to keep the credit if the options expire worthless.

    Calculating The Greeks

You input the option market price to calculate the greeks and IV, Personally, I wouldn't use HV for any option calcs - HV and IV are measured very differently. You may vary vol in your calcs for a hypothetical price, sometimes used to examine how changes in IV might affect a trade.

    Exercise or sell to close

No, because you paid .45 for the calls, your cost for the stock when you exercise would be 10.45 net of comms.

What is the name of this position?

Got it. You add an 80P to the stock and subtract it to form the spreads. I stand corrected. (see how easy it is) However, I don't think that the second more cumbersome synthesis would be the choice of very many traders.

What is the name of this position?

:D Your answer is incorrect. The 3rd post in this thread had a correct breakdown. You do realize that if you match one long put with the stock for the synthetic call - there is only one long put left.

What is the name of this position?

The 3rd post in this thread had the correct breakdown. You meant x1 put spread? Long put + 100s = call Leaving x1 put spread

What is the name of this position?

You contradict yourself in the same thread. Well, which is it? Can you add the deltas with unspecified strikes or not? You do realize that a bull put spread is not a call. You answer is incorrect - I'm not splitting hairs - just stating the obvious.

What is the name of this position?

Hello. Third post by MTE had it right. Also Spin's assessment that it is closer to 1 long call is accurate. How is it that you come up with two calls?

    newbie option questions

I'll assume that you meant the stock goes ex-div on April 10. For American style options - if a .50 div was pending before expiry and there were no changes to the option prices - then you could put on a conversion - long stock, short call, long put same strike and expiry. This would allow...
