    Wireless connection to IB TWS?

Thanks. I'm using a MacBook right now running "parallel" to emulate Win XP. Works fine at home. Maybe there are some settings on the Mac that are screwing me up. I have an older Win98 laptop that I may lug around with it.

    Wireless connection to IB TWS?

Anyone having trouble connecting laptops to IB's TWS when using commercial wireless vendors away from home? At home, my wireless connections are great, but away from home it's a different ballgame. Something blocks connectivity to get through the login, not always but enough that I have no...

    Conservative Options Strategy

I'm a retired Electrical Engineer learning to dabble in options. My only claim to fame here is taking a 100k portfolio in Jan 2006 to about 200k now (with no withdrawals so far). My goal to not to lose money, and to make as much as I can. So I selected the most conservative strategy I could...

    strategy doesn't matter

"Don't spend all day." Right. Spend about a year finding and deciding on a strategy that most suits your personal style and risk tolerance. Make sure it sounds logical to you, and that you understand it very well, and make sure the odds are in your favor on every trade you make. Then spend...

what happens to the options if a company is acquisitioned or merged?

Yeah I trade bull call spreads (debit). Actually I probably could find examples by going through my transactions, but frankly it' notworth the time since it is a rare event. I do remember a couple of occasions I closed out spreads early to avoid this mystery outcome.

what happens to the options if a company is acquisitioned or merged?

This is a good question, and I hope someone can answer it for us. This has happened several times to me. I trade spreads, and on occasion I look at my portfolio and see that a position has changed - sometimes the number of contracts stays the same with different symbols, sometimes the number...

Quick question on IB options spread cancellation fees

IB doesn't charge to modify spread orders. For example to change the number of contracts or the price. They do charge to cancle orders. One can get around that by setting a price that is unreasonable, then the order expires unfilled, with no charge.

    bad news for AAPL------read

Disappearing iPhones? Lots of them sold oversees using different carriers - not ATT. Also the hackers opened up the phone to other carriers. I think the iPhone is still strong.

CFC at 9.65. april $5 calls at $6 (from yahoo site this weekend) buy the stock then sell covered calls at $6 -- net cost $3.65. If stock is above $5 in april, you make $1.35 for investment of 3.65 - 37% return w/small risk. No loss unless stock is below $3.65.

IB - Dealing With Early Exercise of Options

I trade spreads. Occasionally my short calls get exercised early, so suddenly I have to buy some stock. If my margin is sufficient I can easily exercise my long calls when I find out about the early exercise and no harm is done. IB does not provide a way to automatically exerise my long...
