    Hey Canadians, WTF?

I sincerely doubt most government numbers are real anymore. I don't know if they are real or not, I use my own methods to decide what is really happening. It seems that most traders don't realize that truth rules and not numbers and talking heads. Just my opinions: Alberta and Saskatchewan...

    The Crumbling of Europe

I think that extreme left will dominate this time because the memory of extreme right is still too fresh in voters minds. So they will look one way crossing the street to avoid getting hit and be wiped out by a semi coming the other way. Just a guess.

Its not the size but how you use it that counts.

Official End Of Hft - Countdown Thread - 66 Days Left

How many people in this thread think that the brokers make big money offering free or 5 dollars a trade? If they don't make big money doing that, then it stands to reason that they make their big money other ways. A little time thinking should help understand what HFT is all about and where...

Official End Of Hft - Countdown Thread - 66 Days Left

I think you are saying thank goodness the BS is out there. Or are you saying that even more rank beginners should lose their money to the market. Or are you saying that there would be hundreds of more profitable would be traders except for this nonsense. I have empathy for the...

Official End Of Hft - Countdown Thread - 66 Days Left

Beyond HFT there is another even worse scenario I have been troubled thinking about for a few years now. HFT is not really a significant threat to traders in my view. It simply toughens the game. Let's for this thread assume a zero sum game and a government intent on ensuring profits for...

cnbc ‘freaking out’ over low ratings.

There is an interesting thing about gurus. Most gurus say up front that it takes discipline to win and that only a handful will survive. Most explain why that is and do not post actual survival numbers. Yet in the trading rooms most assume that people beside them are successful. In fact by my...

So the basically the same format as always - the naked russian weather report scenario. So every time they bend over the market jumps a few points?

cnbc ‘freaking out’ over low ratings.

For the record, I am completely retail, although I have made more money than most retail traders over the decades. Professional traders listen to what I say when we meet in person. I take that humbly as a sign that they know I know what they know. One sent me a cheery email. He is back...

cnbc ‘freaking out’ over low ratings.

I personally know about a dozen retail traders who have stopped trading in the past couple of years. Perhaps the ratings drop simply indicates that the retail traders are largely out of the game now? Perhaps it is mostly just Gentle Ben and the investment banks around the poker table now.

Anyone catch the 60 minutes piece on Lehman?

Fantastic clip. Thanks for posting it. Listening and thinking about the troubling implications behind this video, I can't help but ponder the future (my own in particular). If legal systems, accounting systems, financial regulation, the FED, the government, and all the other protections...

Did Altucher fail as a trader?

I would be curious as to what they say changed to make it easier these days. Personally, I have not spent much time wondering about easy or hard. Making money consistently is far more engaging.

With respect (since I look forward to what you will say): None of the methods the article lists are used by the author and the article implies that he seems to have experience in all methods that have ever been invented or ever will be invented for the author to BOLD THE ONLY PEOPLE...

There is a God, and He is Good

Give me some of that oldtime religion! Before I was 21, I had assumed that God and good are the same word from multiple generations ago. Sometimes one can hear echoes of intelligence from many generations ago by observation and thinking. You make an assumption that "one always need to...

    Commissions on Options Trades

Commission prices are a trading red herring in my view. I prefer service, trading more and smaller, and being properly capitalized. I do get a little special treatment, even though I don't do anywhere near the most trades per year. In day trading they matter a lot since commissions eat up a...

The money for the toys comes largely from the student debt which seems to be the government showing that things aren't so bad by giving training money to a block of potential voters. Many of them have not had the life experience to look gift horses in the mouth and wonder why the generosity...
