What catalyst transformed you to a successful trader?

As a psychology graduate responsibly say that my transition from deep depression caused by endless fails and losing money to clear understanding of what I am doing and making money was unconscious. :) It sounds funny but I really can't tell exactly what catalized this change. Suspect it's...

Es profit on 1/4 point can it be done? Part II

I meant that it does not immediately fill on the bid (assuming a buy) even if price sits on one price for some time, cause most of the time you're not th first in queue and at the same time if price stalls at one price it by itself means that market is quiet and liquidity is lower than in...

Es profit on 1/4 point can it be done? Part II

Saxon: Sorry to disappoint you, but it seems that your spreadsheet doesn't include commissions and the more important point: in my live trading I don't see often my limits being filled immediately and on the bid price (assuming a buy). I trade NQ but don't think ES is much different. Of...

    Tape Reading vs Price/Volume

I think of tape-reading as a style of trading to catch swings of price vs. catching major trend (true speculation as Livermore called it). So personally for me reading price/volume charts and even indicators, especially intraday, to catch price swings is a form of tape reading (of course I...

    Russia gas nationalization and politics

OK now you don't like Estonia! :D Very nice country BTW. And just as you plan to move in Russia I plan to move in Prague. So no problems. As for why I answer: you write in public forum which means you want people to read and react. Or do you write it all for yourself? :) Yes I want a...

    Russia gas nationalization and politics

One more thing! Who told you the above is thanks to current government? IMHO it's DESPITE it. Russian people are talented who would argue that? But it's amazing how many of them (I guess you are native russian too?) like to value themselves much less than they are worth. If something is made...

    Russia gas nationalization and politics

LOL. If it's so bad to live in "under Bush" why don't you simply move to Russia? :D And seriously, read above: there is no NATIONALIZATION! There is USURPATION of national resources! Everyone who does not see this is either blind or just an idiot. :) And recources ARE SOLD OUT! Not...

    Russia gas nationalization and politics

Well, really Beresovsky, Gusinsky and Hodorkovsky (and his partners) are either in jail or hiding in Israel and London. But let's open the Forbes Russia for 2006: Abramovich (Chelsea): $18.7B Deripaska (Rusal): $12.7B (he is already ahead of the first one since then). Fridman (Alfa)...

    Russia gas nationalization and politics

No offense, but the reality is just the opposite. Only several former olygarchs are in danger. Most of them (and the richest of them) seem to feel great, have absolutely enormous amounts of money and have no problems living in Russia and flying on their business jets to European resorts and back.

What advantages does NQ over ES ?

The more I trade, the more I come to the conclusion that every trader has his/her "own" market which suits one's (or maybe bot's :)) personality best.

What advantages does NQ over ES ?

Well I can't say ES or YM bit me painfully, it was OK, but NQ moves are really more clear on the same charts. But of course ER2 and DAX are the best. :)

What advantages does NQ over ES ?

I don't know exactly what advantage it has, but when I once just from curiosity took a look at NQ the next day I switched to it and trade it (and QQQQ) now. For some reason (maybe that, which Austin stated) patterns I trade are identified in NQ more easily than they were in ES or YM.

    Russia gas nationalization and politics

Funny this is that in reality most of Russian olygarchs are richer now than they ever were! And it is absolute truth! Only several of them who refused to cooperate with current government of had political ambitions themselves (like Hodorkovsky) had problems, all others have simply insane...

    Woodies CCI

Yeah, not even the money to talk about. In Siberian city I live in taxi drivers make more per day. :D But if seriously, I meant that it's not interesting for hedge funds etc. Of course for a person it's a good money. Though considering that Woodie has something like 25 years of...

    Woodies CCI

Exactly! Plus one more very important point: liquidity. Using his approach if he starts to trade too big, slippage will eat him alive. Everyone who intraday trades futures like ER2 know that it's impossible to grow fast and trade the same way with the same % profits as when you trade small...

    Woodies CCI

Woodie does actually make money. I have seen him trading live. But I agree with those who say that it's not because of CCI, more because of his experience. If you study something long enough you finally begin to know it like yourself be it CCI, pure price or whatever...

    Russia gas nationalization and politics

You argue everything right, except one important thing: does Russia (BTW, Venezuela too) decrease it's dependance from oil and gas as these industry sectors are being nationalized? No! Resources are sold out even more than before! And absolutely nothing is done to develop other sectors of...

    Russia gas nationalization and politics

Yeah. Naive people often think that "nationalized" means the same as "their own". In reality though, it usually means that all those resources become "owned" (not legally, but de-facto) by the small group which gained all the power in the country. History has seen many facts of this. Sorry...

    Russia gas nationalization and politics

Do you know that in the beginning of 90's there was also a choice: civil war or wild privatisation. Can you blame that government which chose the second way?

    Russia gas nationalization and politics

So many words for such a clear problem! Notice, I NEVER said that I like what was here in 90's. What I am saying is that what's happening now is not better! It's just an illusion of defence of national interests, in reality happens just the opposite: more money than EVER is being transferred...
