Are you not worried about adverse selection with orders resting in the market (algos sub-pennie in front of you when things look good and letting you fill when the price is more likely to go against you)? Mu often flows well with the market; do you follow market flow with indicators like the...

What % of daily volume in a trade do you start to run into significant slippage?

Your draw It means you will not get the opening print. Probably you will have greater slippage than you think. Your 35% drawdown mention does not have enough information but I will speculate that you should drastically drop your position size; take your time with this.

System that works but lack the capital, please advise

Excellent advice. Most of the time when people come to me: A. They are planning a ripoff or misrepresenting Or B. They are well meaning but not competent ____ Of course we must, in a literal sense, often examine the deal. Buffett and Munger are famous for: Getting a little smarter every...

    Paper Trading

Of course trading must be done and picking the right broker or prop firm is important, sometimes critically. There is nothing wrong with backtesting along the way and even after becoming a strong trader. Some winners backtest. It is my understanding that Rin4et has traded and has an account...

How do you stay ahead of the herd/majority?

I am saying winning edges in US stock daytrading literally end quicker and quicker than they used to. Some of stock daytrading has revolved around regulatory glitches (SOES Bandits) that close quicker. Or Innefficiencis (following the short seller in low volume stocks, fishing for NYSE price...

How do you stay ahead of the herd/majority?

I thought what she meant was that edges go away when too many are trying to make money with them; sometimes they were never there. Regardless: Bot Destroyer in Traders of the New Era was clear that edges end quicker and quicker as time goes on. He is always on the search for new ones and in...

    Paper Trading

I very much like your quest to backtest. You are smart enough to some degree factor in liquidity and slippage. PLUS... years ago I knew traders who simply learned good things doing this that eventually lead them to become bigger winners. Obviously Quant firms do this day and night, but I have...
