    Time To Go Long Semis?

Interesting, umm, "analysis". Basically his argument seems to be that since the stocks are down and business, according to him, is good, the stocks should go up. Uh, okay, if he says so. But what about valuations? What about the moderating business cycle? What about Intel and KLAC's...

I'm looking for big strong men to...

Am I the only one enjoying the heck out of this? I love you guys! . . . . Umm, in a totally non-gay, platonic way, that is.

    Earnings . . .

Wags, definitely a nice quarter. However, unless they surprise everyone with a special dividend announcement on the call (as opposed to sometime after July as they've previously indicated), I'd wager this pop is easily faded. In fact, I'm thinking of shorting here against the long calls I've...

    Bin Laden Capture Bet

Anyone take the Bin Laden capture/killed bet on Tradesports? The by September 30 contract, which expires after the Republican National Convention, looks like a lock to me, yet it's trading near the contract low. Anyone in it?

I'm looking for big strong men to...

Someone has some rather serious anger issues to address. I'd suggest medication or a puppy.

    Long Replacement Strategy

While the correct answer is "it depends", a synthetic long might do the trick.

    any news?

Their earnings came out shortly after the bell. Bad guidance more likely. Anyone hear the call?

    Bring back Goose

While Maverick is thankfully back among us, I know I'm not alone in saying Goose is sorely missed. So I say, bring back Goose!

    OSIP Play

Thanks, Mav. That's a good idea. I went ATM simply because I lacked any sense of where this thing might go over the next 2-3 weeks and saw a ton of O.I. at the 40 strike. Also, based on what I read, I was under the impression that the FDA decision was expected to come down in the next few weeks...

    OSIP Play

As Arb said, same thing. Also, the risk:reward on the fly at 80 cents (my price) is actually 1:5 (plus a few basis points). And under Reg T, a lot less capital is tied up on the play with the fly vs. the synthetic.

    OSIP Play

Yes, well I'm weak-willed by nature and thus unfortunately couldn't suppress the urge myself. But with regard to the backspread idea, I'm not sure I'd want to be long vega given my thesis for the trade. Plus, my risk on the fly is really negligible.

Sep DNA calls, hedge or not?

In that case, I'd take the double and move on. The scenario you described would be deleterious to implied vol. Hence, converting to a long calendar may not be advisable. But if you felt compelled to maintain exposure to the stock, you could sell less than the entire position, or you could use...

    Sold TASR May synthetic...

Okay, looking good. Implieds are coming in as expected, and given the asymetrical nature of my condor, best case is for the stock to settle at 80, next best at 100, and third best somewhere in between. Unfortunately, there's plenty of time to May expiration, so it may make sense to close out or...

    OSIP Play

OSIP may be another negative vega play to look at. Vol levels have been pumped up in anticipation of an FDA decision that's expected to come in sometime over the next few weeks. While that obviously means the stock could go anywhere on the news, I bought some cheap ATM flys, betting (hoping)...

TASR - when does SEC take action?

Actually, the implied vol levels of all the TASR options, which were bid up to noseblead levels in front of earnings, will begin to implode today. Thus, if long puts, you'd have to hope for a very big move indeed to compensate for the decline in volty. It's why some of us on the options forum...

The biggest tax increase in US history was signed by Reagan in 1982

Just the thought of the lascivious mendacious Slick Willie getting hummers from fat chicks in the office earlier occupied by the Great Gipper makes me want to retch. And while GW is acquiting himself rather nicely in the War on Terror, I suspect that if Ronnie were in charge on 9/11, the gleeful...
