Hey Raver, How often does the application.ontime function poll the system clock? I've never heard of that method before.... just the used the windows API or checking the value against the =now() function in the OnCalculate event. Also, FWIW I've always used...

    Help, simple excel...

depends on a lot of things. If the spreadsheet updates fairly frequently you can put some VBA code in the .calculate subroutine that checks the value against the time (either in a cell with =now() or against the windows API and system clock) and then copy it to another cell when you like...

    obtaining stock certificates

Are you buying a specific stock, or just any stock? You can buy old certificates off of ebay and the like that are kinda cool. Old rail companies and such.... not sure if that will do for you, however. Thanks, - The New Guy...

    Trading plan templates

I don't own that one, but I do have "trade your way to financial freedom" or whatever it's called. I didn't find it that great, however, and found most of the ideas to be very, very generic. I guess I was looking for some more personal examples, hopefully from some successful traders. I...

selling index calls anticipating a reversal

I'm very new to stats (as well as options), but I thought the area under the curve just represented %100 of the sample size. I don't really follow how that could increase or decrease. Err, scratch that, I get it now. It represents vol, and can increase in range along the x axis.

selling index calls anticipating a reversal

So then which assumption is wrong: 1. An increase in iv of ITM's means there's a greater chance of them expiring OTM. 2. An ITM call with a higher chance of expiring OTM is worth less than a similar ITM call with smaller chance of expiring OTM. Thanks, - The New Guy EDIT: or am...

selling index calls anticipating a reversal

OK, so back to my original question which I didn't word well and used the wrong terminology for. Is it safe to assume that ITM premiums decrease as spot vol increases (assuming they are deep enough ITM that they don't become ATM if the spot price rises as vol increases). And given the...

selling index calls anticipating a reversal

I get everything about that except the first statement. I think I'm missing something obvious because you seem to imply that understanding that the curve/skew increases when spot vol increases (broadening distrobution) should explain to me why ITM call premiums don't increase at the same time...
