    Advise me on computer memory

Perhaps what changed was the version of TOS? Did you track your versions? Tick should be more intensive, all things being equal.

    Advise me on computer memory

What does Task Manager say about how much TOS uses? And you adjusted your TOS memory setting right?

What fancy name does this candle have?

Many names are derived from context. It could be an engulfing for instance.

What is the threshold to be considered a successful day trader?

Day trading every day for a year is a lot of work. Sort of like driving non stop solo for over 14 hours. Someone asked me what the secret to trading is? For this sort of "get rich quick and easy" person, I replied, " A lot of work!". Then he replied it was not for him. To me working...

    Pivot Point

It seemed, in the old days, early 2000, they sort of a minor factor. Places where things paused. They needed to be combined with other S/R, the more the better. Also a lot of retail platforms did not calculate them for you. So it was sort of a "edge thing". It was pretty rare on the Index...

Kamala wants a 0.2% transaction tax

Would it be based on notional amount? E.g. 3350 x 50 x .002% = $3.35 Per side so essentially near doubling (approximately) commissions? IB is $3.8 per side.

Limit versus Limit if Touched at IB-Globex CME

Hi All, Quick question. It seems like Limit if Touched has: Pro: Order is "hidden-sitting" at the broker. Con: Once triggered, has to be transmitted from the broker to the exchange and enter the exchange que. Of course this assumes: 1) the LIT is not actually somehow "hidden-sitting" at...

    Short Trade Bankruptcy

I usually try to cover before it is halted on the existing exchange and move on. The entanglements (waiting to go Pink, e.g.) are not worth the time, imo.

    Mirror trading a paper account

:fistbump: Sorry but I think I am not offering much here anymore. Best of luck and I am sure you will find your answers, or they will find you. <grin>. If you want you can read about open auctions. https://jot.pm-research.com/content/7/1/7. It was an interesting read.

Your Favorite Entry setups -- name one?

They are the example of "bad, badness". They have put many system that make small amounts and have high win rates, into the dust bin.

Live data feeds could also make difference. When it is happening, it is pretty chaotic. Hence the term "orderly" market. Even short price spikes playing out in a particular stock in Realtime can be chaotic. When Lehman Bros went down, I had a futures index short position, 135K up. Placed a...

    Mirror trading a paper account

I would say give it a test run. Do a ratio of what you do on paper, say 25%. It is seems to work for say a week, do 50% for two week, then 100% for a week. After a month you should have more data and the "hints" of "technical advantage". Worse case, a false start and not too much damage...

Besides the pressure of losing real money, or even making real money, it can be the fills. Are your fills realistic? If I have a Buy, I have to see the Bid go BELOW before I would consider it really filled. I.e. I only expect to fill a buy at the ASK in live trading*. Also there is a...

IB introduces automated trading for dummies

Interesting. I am sure it will improve over time. I agree, exposing the API would be the way to go, then wrapping it up into a custom UI as buttons and indicators. There are a lot of "visual coding" tools out there they could mimic. I'll swing back and check it out in in a year or so.

Obsession with trading and the markets. Does it get better or only worse?

LF, you might just be looking for what "system" style fits you best. "Fit" being a vague and broad term, that only you can fine tune for you. "Best" being also vague and broad. So no matter what everyone else says, these things are for you to decide. This even applies to the money side...

    Ideal specs for daytrading PC

Just FYI: Here is my TWS. It is a "pig" compared to everything else, including Edge, which is no small deal. So setting memory to 1 GB would probably not be good.

This looks fine. But under fast heavy markets it will be different, even specifically to TS.
